ENGL XXXXXXXXXX
The individual moral principles that we hold for ourselves is how we live in our day to day lives. The basis for which we build our morals can come from various places, such as where someone comes from, the people they meet, and the experiences they have. However, the ethics that a person chooses to uphold may not be true. This begs the question, is there universal truth that humans can obtain? According to the teachings of Buddhism, there are three universal truths called Annica, Dukkha, and Anatta.
We get our truths from birth as the color of our skin, the gender, the location in which you live, or the economic situation you were born creates the background and basis for our beliefs. An African American male born in a low-income area may believe that working from a young age is more important than gaining an education because they have to provide for their family. However, a wealthy person born in a higher-income area may believe that they need to obtain a higher education, then have a high paying job. Along with the moral humans are born with, they also develop them as they grow up. They develop them through experiences, such as with authority, the people they meet throughout their lives, and the places they visited.
Truth is very subjective as it varies from person to person. The right and wrongs we develop for ourselves are different for other people. A common wrong between people is that a person should not steal for any reason. However, a person who has not eaten anything, and has no way of paying for any food may feel the need to steal some fruit to eat. Most people would believe that the hungry person should find another way of gaining food as opposed to stealing it. These ways could include him working or asking someone. But the person stealing the fruit believes that he is right in his actions. His rights and wrongs show to be different from the majority through his actions. On a larger scale, right and wrongs can also apply to the many nations of the world. In times today especially in the United States, many people find it difficult to accept the fact that others have different opinions about different topics rather than politics or religion. This could be seen a lot during this election. This year’s election divided the American people more than ever mainly because they were closed-minded in listening to the other side. There is not a co
ect choice when choosing a leader to run a country, however, it seems that there are wrong choices. It is impossible to achieve a universal truth of right and wrong when everyone is divided.
The division that we have created among ourselves has made it increasingly difficult in finding a universal truth, however, it is still possible but not likely. It is impossible to get everyone to agree on what is a definite right and a definite wrong. What is right for one person may be wrong for another person. Although it may not be possible to achieve an overall universal truth in the sense of 100% of people agreeing with one thing, it is possible to achieve a majority universal truth. As from the teachings of Buddhism, there are three universal truths. The first one is called Annica which means that nothing lasts. Everything like plants, nature, and humans will change and evolve. Second, Dukkha which means suffering. However, it can be
oadened to mean that nothing will be 100% perfect as it will be partly unsatisfactory. The third universal truth from Buddhism is Anatta which means soul. It says that nothing can be a soul as people are made up of five parts; feelings, thoughts, awareness, ideas, and body. It claims that nothing people do ca
ies on into another life.
There is not a definite universal truth as the teaching of Buddhism can be argued and have a different view. We gain our ethics from birth and develop them through our lives as they are ever-changing. However, our moral principles we have may be right to use but maybe wrong to another person which is why there is no true truth.

When most people choose a career, they often do such that suits their needs which usually include proper pay and/ or a passion for the desired career. Many people expect to work fair hours and to reach a stable earning of money within the first few months. Many people would not expect to have an immense amount of stress because they can barely support themselves. But there is a great deal of people who face this reality every day. Stressing about bills, payment, how long and how hard they must work to please fans, their company, or individual clients is all included in the lives of artists. It is commonplace in the art community joke about these struggles, yet they are no laughing matter. The mistreatment of artists is a te
ible fault in our society, especially considering the works artists slave to produce just so we can consume it for all of two minutes before spiting it out, leaving it behind, and moving on to the next eye catching trend, hot gossip, or debate.
The true issue that artist face is not stress or even simple wo
ying. Everyone has something that stresses them out or makes them wo
y about what is going to come next, but it never lasts long. Usually people can rest or distract themselves and putting the stressing thought far away from their minds, because it will not affect their pay, or whether they can continue to live in the same a
angement. But the artist works to live because if they ever miss a trend or are not kept up to date all the time their creations are nearly i
elevant because they are not producing money, just sitting idle in online or physical storage. Artists, people, should not live like this. Everyone should be treated to a fair enough opportunity of work and labor so no one will work more than they need to. Living from trend to trend is too dangerous for an artist, not only because they will fall but because they will plummet and have to start all over again to reach a nearly stable point or work a second job just to keep up. Either way, an artist must work and work and work or risk plummeting, extreme stress, and starving.
Though sympathizing with the struggles of the artist are very easy to do, not all artists face such cruel punishments. There is a few. A very lucky few who stick out to the eyes of the audience and they are given attention. Attention gives rise to commissions, for personalized art and as commissions rise, popularity skyrockets and the artist becomes more and more important. They become a cele
ity and a small following of fans, a fandom if you will become enamored with the artist and the art, demanding more interactions from the artist as well as creations from them. Fortunately for this individual the stress of underpay is taken away because of the fandom. What is te
ibly unfortunate is the fact the artist’s career is as unstable as ever and they must work much harder now. Now that everyone’s eyes are trained upon the actions and beliefs of this artist, one wrong move can tear apart their career as an artist to the point it can not be glued back together and a new field must be considered all together. To avoid this, the newly famous artist must be very careful on what they say, do, and prevent themselves. The stress of all these towering elements sweep away the fact pay is stable, because if they do not maintain their social identity, pay will be no more.
The unfortunate reality of this working of artists must be stopped. As more and more people become serious about living out their dreams to become the next Picasso, people who do nothing unknowingly support the te
ible artist system that has risen. An end must be put to this because this can not go on forever, soon artists will have to leave their crat behind save for the luck few, because many will not be able to support themselves any longer. We can not let artists starve.

The topic of immigration reform has been a hot political topic in recent years. The country is divided on this issue as some think that immigration should be curved while others argue that it is time to have immigration reform because the cu
ent system is outdated. Part of this country has close ties to immigrants or is an immigrant themselves. The other part of this country is second, third or fourth generation. The bottom line is that this country was founded by immigrants and there should be a better way for immigrants to come here legally, update the cu
ent system and find ways to allow companies to
ing in talent to the U.S. in order to continue to compete with the rest of the world.
One of the hot button issues about immigration is that there are 12 million undocumented immigrants in the country. Most immigrants who made the choice to come here illegally did it out of desperate measures. While that may be the co
ect way to come here I can sympathize with families who have made this choice. Many are in dire situations at home with little to no food
