produce a set of architecture design solutions to cater for present and future forecast demands.

It applies to individuals working in the field who ca
y out design and implementation of technical solutions of
information communications technology (ICT) networks, employed by telecommunications and information technology
networking provisioning companies specialising in integrating converging and emerging technologies of ICT networks.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

ASSESSMENT 1 – STUDENT INFORMATION
This information is to be handed to each student to outline the assessment requirements.

This assessment will be undertaken in a role-play environment.

You have been contacted by a client (your assessor), who is a start-up business looking to set up a network in multiple
locations. You are to a
ange an appointment with your client and identify their requirements.

Students are to ask appropriate questions and utilise open-ended questioning techniques to identify the business
equirements relating to the network setup and administrative requirements. You must lead the conversation, as your
client may only answer the questions you ask.

Remember, you are the networking professional, not the client

Once you know what your client wants to achieve, you are to research ICT Networking options for them, and develop:

o A robust ICT Networking Architecture report
o A detailed logical network diagram
o A proposal that
▪ details the networks impact on the business performance
▪ evaluates and comments on predicted performance
▪ considers growth capacities
▪ outlines costs (including supplier products)
▪ outlines support and training requirements
▪ relates to cu
ent technical specifications and prices

You are to present your proposal to your client, explain how it will work, and gain sign-off. Your client will ask you
questions, so you need to understand your proposal. Their questions may be technical, and you need to be able to
answer them.

Assessment Summary

You are to submit your written proposal as outlined above

Answer 1
The descriptions of required technologies are provided below:
· Access Networks: The user network which makes connections between user and service provider with help of ca
ier network like internet is called access network. The wireless LAN, Ethernet, fi
e optic network, ADSL network etc. is common types of access networks.
· Core networks: The telecommunication network that provides connection services with help of access network is called core network. Making direct phone calls through public network of switched telephones is main function of core network. The communication on high values is developed in core network.
· Mobile cellular network: The network used for communication where the last node making communication is always wireless; is called mobile cellular network. This network is developed with help of transceiver having static location and last node is in moving position.
· RF technology including Wi-Fi: The RF (radio frequency) making wireless signals which are electromagnetic and responsible for making wireless connections for wireless electronic devices is called RF technology of communication. The 3 kHz to 300 GHz is the frequency range of this technology.
Answer 2
The protocol or method used to send the developed data from one system to any other through internet is called internet protocol (IP). This is the unique address which identifies any system on network. This is connection less protocol in which direction connection among communicating system is not required.
Answer 3
The numerical label which is assigned to every connected device on any network for effective identification and making reliable communication is called IP address. The location address and identification of network interface is mainly done by IP addresses. The working of IP address is shown below:
1. First, we have to define the class of network like A, B, and C.
2. Now the leading bit and size of bit field is decided.
3. Now the size of rest bit is decided.
4. Now the capacities of addresses in specified network class is decided and calculated.
5. Now the starting and ending address are calculated.
6. Now as the IP is assigned, the user can directly type the IP address and can use services of that node.
Answer 4
The IP addresses are can be of both static and dynamic types. The static addresses are mostly used for servers but the IP address which is assigned to any node when that node makes connection to network is called dynamic IP. The DHCP server makes allocation of this dynamic IP. The dynamic IP are used to reduce the network load and effectively using IP addresses in developed network.
Answer 5
The logical partitioning performed on developed network for making small possible segments of network is called subnet. The sub-netting is mostly done on networks of large size for improving their efficiency. The dot notations are used to perform subnet with specified prefix. So, we can say that it is the logical subdivisions created for improving the performance of IP network.
Answer 6
The term RFID stands for the Radio Frequency Identification. In this technology, the radio waves are being utilized for capturing and reading the information attached to tags of created objects. A straight line connection is not required to read the data from RFID tag. These tags are mostly used on animals for identifying them. The antenna and integrated circuit are used to develop the RFID tags.
Answer 7
The table to show comparison among barcodes and RFID tags is shown below:
    Sr. No.
    Bar code
    RFID tag
    1.
The reading rate of data in bar code is slow.
The reading rate of data in RFID tags is fast as compare to barcodes.
    2.
The barcode can be read from a distance in centimeters.
The RFID tags can be read from a distance in meters (Up to 30).
    3.
One barcode is read at one time.
Up to 40 tags can easily be read on identical time.

Answer 8
The Ethernet LAN which makes use of switches for making connections among hosting segments by replacing repeaters and allocating complete bandwidth to that device is called switched Ethernet. The issues faced by this switched Ethernet network are listed below:
· The interference of wireless devices will increase.
· The bandwidth of used cables is not sufficient.
· The signal attenuation can be very excessive.
Answer 9
The use of network operating systems is very popular in cu
ent industry. These OS are developed for sharing of printers, databases and applications among connected nodes. The industry network makes use of different NOS according to their requirements. Some of these NOS are listed below:
· PicOS,
· NX-OS from Cisco,
· Open network from Linux,
· MAC OS X,
· Cumulus network also from Linux,
· Stratum for SDN interfaces.
Answer 10
The use of network operating systems is very popular in cu
ent industry. The NOS provides so many administrative features to its administrator and some of these features are listed below:
· The administrator has the features of user authentication and security monitoring.
· The backup can only be taken by administrator. So, all features of system maintenance are under control of administrator of NOS.
· The administrator manages the file management by allocating possible tasks.
· The administrator can change the...
