Theranos Story
Maybe the most dramatic story in recent times is that of Theranos. This story is of the
times when I was associated with the Company. Theranos was set up by Elizabeth Holmes as
an organization that had guaranteed to transform the blood-testing processes. Elizabeth was a
Stanford dropout who was able to raise millions for setting up this Company with her
incredible marketing skills. Theranos aimed at providing accurate results on the basis of a
tiny blood sample a stark contrast to the high amount of blood required to traditionally
perform blood tests. This was based upon specialized machines “Edison” which the company
claimed to have developed but there was no proof of the accuracy of these machines. These
claims multiplied the valuation of the organization despite the fact that the organization did
not discharge logical information to prove their claims. In any case, the organization's claims
were proven to be wrong uncovering startling realities about Theranos. Five genuine
insufficiencies were discovered which had put the patients’ life and health in risk. The
organization could not prove that it was utilizing its own particular machines for directing the
tests setting genuine questions over the exactness of results (Ioannidis, 2016). The
administrators and business accomplices started to leave the company.
Soon, Theranos reported that Holmes had been prohibited from owning or running a
lab for no less than two years. It also reported that the California lab of the organization
would have to be closed down. The Company had to declare publicly that they were not using
their own machines...
