Abstract 
The above discussion elucidates one of the vital territorial expansion of the US i.e. the

which the country gets after the war.  It has been illustrated that how the US acquired the Mexico 
City with the help of its dedicated and powerful army, and also the way in which the Mexico 
City reverted back in their best possible manner, but faced defeat. Moreover, the long term and 
the short effects of the Mexico-America War have also been illuminated in the paper, which are 
the most considerable one. It is prominent from the discussion in the paper that the war made the

Introduction 
Territorial expansion can be regarded as the extension of territories by a country in order 
to expand its boundaries to the neighboring countries. The United States has relied on territorial 
expansion over the years so that it can expand its territories. The vast territorial expansion by the 
United States indicates that the country has not created itself overnight rather it is the result of 
the number of expansions, which it has done in the past few years. After the year 1790, the 
country started adding different territories in its boundaries and the list of acquisitions is quite 
long, which illustrates that the country has done a tremendous territorial expansion, which is 
noteworthy in the history (Tucker, 2012). 
With the help of territorial expansion for the purpose of repossess land by countries, the 
United States gained more land from all its neighboring countries.  The major acquisitions by the 
United States took place between the years 1783-1853 when the country reclaimed most of the
