Introduction  
 
Ideological position of government plays significant role in the growth and development of a 
welfare state. There has been several changes taking place in the world economy, which 
includes demographic changes, population, economic changes, health issues, unequal 
distribution of income etc; all these factors are impacting the social policies and development 
of a nation. Different political systems are followed in different regions and it also impact the 
social and welfare structure of the country to a great extent. This essay illustrates different 
political ideologies and their impact on welfare state in general and in context with Oman.

Ideologies can be explained as simple collection of thoughts and belief system about 
something such as world, human nature, politics, culture or society. Ideologies help in 
understanding the change in social or political scenario of a nation; as it impacts social 
thinking and group actions in a community (Bambra, et al., 2007, pp. 571-574). Here the 
ideologies are focusing on the emergence of inequality in public health and its impact on the 
society. Further, different cultural, economic, political and interest ideas are integrated and 
society behave in certain manner. Ideology impacts the growth of an economy by influencing 
the way a nation is being operated and managed by the administration.
