MACBETH MEDIA PRESENTATIONS
4.1: The Witches’ 2nd prophecy to Macbeth Tikki
Analyze an assigned speech/scene from Macbeth:
● See Next page for scenes (you will have a chance to create your own groups of 2 or 3
students per presentation)
1. Find TWO different FILM (MOVIE) versions/performances of the assigned
speech/scene to show and analyze in class - make sure it’s a professional movie, with film
elements you can analyze (costumes, props, set design, music/sound, etc.)
2. On the day of the presentation, show the clips. You have a choice to either show both at
the same time, and discuss them together, or to do one, discuss it, and then show the
second. Make sure the clips/youtube links are included in your slide show and/o
uploaded to the google classroom.
3. Using A Visual Aid (powerpoint presentation/Prezi/Google Slides, etc.):
a. Analyze the significance of the speech/scene, discussing theme(s), setting,
characters, and literary devices/style/language.
. Analyze the film clips. Compare/contrast the different versions and discuss the
elements of each film version, explaining why they are important, and what they
signify.
Here is a list of the various film elements you should consider as you analyze you
scene/passage. As you compare/contrast the elements, you should consider how those
elements evoke a particular mood/atmosphere or message, how they illuminate/develop a
character, or how they extend a particular theme, symbol, or imagery.

Introduction
The trajectory of actions for Shakespearean tragic heroes is beyond any comparison and Macbeth stands at the front of this list. He is possibly one of the most prominent figures who have built their reputations by striking the minds of the scholars. Shakespeare has constructed his character around the Aristotelian tragic hero concept, giving him the tragic flaw of ambition that leads to his downfall in spite of holding up a noble personality.
