Assignment Description
All projects are launched to be successful, but some projects fail. Information Technology Projects
have higher failure rate than other projects. It is important to learn from the past failures and use the
lesson learnt to improve the success rate of future projects. In this assignment you are required to
esearch major Information Technology failure and critically analyse them to find out the shortcoming
so that successful IT project can be delivered in future. You are further required to research and
discuss stakeholder management and need of the technical skills for a successful project manager.
1. Do some research and list five Information Technology project failures in the last decade.
2. Discuss what determines the success or failure of a project.
3. Critically explain the reason of the project’s failure in one of the failures examples in Q1.
4. Stakeholder management is one of the many project management tasks. Describe with an
example project who are the stakeholders and what the project manager needs to do to make
them satisfied.
5. Explain the importance of technical skills for a project manager with an example project.
