Introduction
A number of health policies that address important health issue have been implemented in recent years. With increasing negative effect on the health of individuals, such policies are the need of the hour. The policies related to road safety, smoking and others have been framed and implemented. However, there is a requirement of a policy relating to the usage of dustbins. In order to ensure improvement in health of individuals, a policy relating to usage of dustbin is the need of the hour. This assignment deals with framing and implementing a policy related to waste disposal. The purpose of this policy has been laid down in this assignment. In addition to that, the importance of the policy for the health of society has been discussed in detail. The manners, in which the policy will be implemented along with the challenges that will be faced, have been defined in the later part of the assignment.
Purpose and description of the framed health policy
The title of the policy is “Use dustbin, improve health”. The purpose of this policy is to encourage the use of dustbins. With the increase in the use of dustbins, the disposal of waste will happen appropriately, that may reduce the chances of health issues faced by the individuals in the society. Importance of the health policy for health
In the modern days, there has been a significant increase in the spread of infectious diseases, epidemics and others. According to the opinion of Laurent et al. (2014), the waste on the streets and other public places is one of the major issues that lead to spread of such diseases. Placing of dustbins at appropriate place and forming a place to use such dustbins will reduce the litter on street and other places. This will reduce the chance of spread of infectious diseases at a rapid pace. In addition to a public place, dustbins should also be kept at the house. If dustbins are used in every house, then there will be less disposal of ga
age outside the house that is on the streets. It will be helpful in keeping the environment clean that will have a significant impact on the health of an individual.
Dustbins also ensure recycling of the waste. Since the municipal authorities collect the waste from the dustbin, they are treated in separate plants. According to the perspective of Edjabou et al. (2015), recycling of some products is done to reduce the burden of waste disposal on the environment. Recycling also helps in reducing the extraction of resources that helps in sustainable development. This is beneficial for the whole society. Due to recycling, the needs of the present are met without compromising the needs of the future generations. This leads to air pollution due to extraction of minerals from mines that have a significant impact on air pollution. Thus, air pollution is controlled up to a certain extent that can be helpful in reducing the respiratory diseases.
