ASSESSMENT: What is the health of your high street, and the health profile of your local area? (2500 words) Your assessment is made of TWO parts:
PART A Conduct a Health of the High Street (HoHS) project for your chosen local area (1700 words)
1. An introduction to your chosen local area
2. Calculate the HoHS score using the Richter Scale of Health (RSPH)
3. Identify the healthy and unhealthy elements and discuss the findings using your HOHS data
4. Identify the gaps and make recommendations to improve the health of your high street
5. Discuss the strengths and limitations of the data you have collected and presented.
PART B Demonstrate the ability to use an online resource to retrieve public health information for your local area (800 words). Online source: Local Authority Health Profile website (https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/profile/health-profiles)
1. Identify and describe the recent trend
2. Compare the data with benchmark (England) to identify health needs
In Part 1, this assignment requires you to comprehend the HoHS framework developed by the Royal Society of Public Health (report on WOLF), and then conduct on-site visits at your chosen local area to collect data to calculate the HoHS Score and identify the healthy and hazardous elements in your local area. Provide recommendations to identified gaps and conclude this part with a short discussion of the strengths and limitations of the data in this part.
In Part 2, you are to demonstrate ability to identify and critically analyse the relevant PH information for your local area from the specified online resource to determine the health needs of your local area.
