4. Identify the gaps and make recommendations to improve the health of your high street

In Part 1, this assignment requires you to comprehend the HoHS framework developed by the Royal Society of Public Health (report on WOLF), and then conduct on-site visits at your chosen local area to collect data to calculate the HoHS Score and identify the healthy and hazardous elements in your local area. Provide recommendations to identified gaps and conclude this part with a short discussion of the strengths and limitations of the data in this part.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
This part of the report will help in determining the health of High Street within Birmingham. The highstreet is Handsworth Woodlane Road which is located within Handsworth. It is a subu
an town in northwest Birmingham. It is situated in metropolitan county of West Midlands in England, UK.
There are more than 161 high streets in Handsworth town. The weather is cold, with maximum temperature of 7 degree Celcius. People around are mostly young and belong to ethically diverse backgrounds. At the time of survey the Handsworth Woodlane Highstreet is quiet, with sparsely populated people. The people living here are ethnically diverse with majority of populations from Asia, Africa, Ca
ibean, Poland and Irelad (UK City Guide, 2017). The high streets in Handsworth exhibit healthy environment and healthy business options. Birmingham is known for its foodie diversity so in most of the streets of Handsworth, there are stalls of foods, vegetables, fruits and street food. The high streets have attractive shopping facilities, museums, theatres and cinemas. The Healthy high streets are well connected, with several good performing schools.
The survey was conducted on 12 Feb 2020 from 9 am to 5 pm. The business in Handsworth Woodlane Highstreet ranges from shopping malls, manufacturing units and factories to retailers shops, builder merchants, electricians, hospitals, schools, dentists, opticians, sweets vegetables shops, museum and jewellery stores.

Mean Score= 4.13, (on the scale of 1-very poor to 6- very good) which shows presence of healthy elements in good numbers in the street.
There are proper hotels for stay for the foreigners, and the air quality is also cleaner in comparison to main city of Birmingham. Basic needs of the people are easily fulfilled. There is access to affordable food, financial services, and people can promote their health choices actively.
3.0 Healthy and Unhealthy Elements
Healthy elements identified in the table which affect the health of high street in a positive manner are Leisure centres, health services, Pharmacies, Health clubs, Museum, Restaurants and li
aries. The street has 2 leisure centres, gyms and swimming centres, with richter score +7, which gives effective opportunity to the people to engage in healthy lifestyle and fitness activities. There are 5 doctor healthcare clinics with richter scale score of +4, and 4 pharmacies (richter scale +2). Presence of adequate number of healthcare services and access to medications promotes healthy living and security. 3 green groceries outlets offer better accessibility to the people for essential things, 3 tanning salons provide skin care and grooming facility within the street. 1 li
