Assessment Task
Individually, devise project scope, schedule, cost and quality management knowledge and
approaches for the project in the assigned Case Study provided by your Subject Coordinator or
Academic Services Officer.
Please refer to the Instructions for details on how to complete this task.
Context
The backbone of a project manager’s work is project planning and budgeting. The planning process
details the project's execution, monitoring, and control. The process outputs are a project
management plan (including sub-plans) and baselines. You will develop suitable project management
solutions for your assigned Case Study in this assessment. You will apply scope, schedule, cost and
quality tools and techniques to demonstrate your project management knowledge and skills in those

knowledge areas related to project planning and budgeting. One of the keys to project success is
effective scope, schedule, cost and quality management. These project management knowledge areas
include processes to ensure that the project is completed successfully and satisfactory.
Instructions
1. Read and understand the provided Case Study (provided by your Subject Coordinator or
Academic Services Officer when you are notified of your supplementary assessment).
2. Critically analyse the project in the Case Study from your own perspectives as up-and-
coming project manager.
3. You will appropriately and sufficiently apply project management concepts, techniques
and tools of scope, schedule, cost and quality management to provide appropriate
solutions to the questions asked in the assigned Case Study.
4. Write 2500 words and describe the processes, tools, and techniques in the knowledge
areas of scope, schedule, cost and quality management as well as your justification for the
processes, tools, and techniques selected.
Referencing
It is essential that you use the most recent edition of APA style for citing and referencing research.
Please see more information on referencing in the Academic Skills webpage.
Submission Instructions
Remember that only upload the final version of your supplementary assessment file(s) via the
Supplementary Assessment link on Blackboard as instructed for PROJ6002 – Project Planning and
Budgeting. Submit your answers in an academic style, including both in-text citations and a full
eference list using the co
ect APA style of referencing. Your supplementary assessment will be
formally graded via the Grade Centre by your Learning Facilitator. It will be marked as “Supplementary
Pass” for the subject if over 50% or if under 50% as “Fail” (original fail mark is kept). A failed grade for
this assessment will lead to a failed grade for the subject. The assessment feedback will be provided
through My Grades.
Academic Integrity
Each student is responsible for ensuring that all work submitted is their own and is appropriately
eferenced and academically written according to the Academic Writing Guide. The student also needs
to have read and be aware of To
ens University Australia Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure
and subsequent penalties for academic misconduct. These are viewable online.
The student also must keep a copy of all submitted material and any assessment drafts.
Special Consideration
To apply for special consideration for a modification to an assessment or exam due to unexpected or
extenuating circumstances, please consult the Assessment Policy for Higher Education Coursework

PROJ6002 – Project Planning and Budgeting
Supplementary Assessment Term 2-2022
Prepare appropriate schedule and cost management plans for the given project below.
Table 1: Research and Development Project
The above activities are shown in a weekly format and need to be converted to a daily basis. In
this case study, a week consists of 5 working days and 8 hours per day. The project will not be
implemented on weekends.
Your plans must follow the additional requirements provided within this instruction as below:
1.0 Time Management Planning & Project Schedule
1.1 Develop sub-activities for any main activities with the duration of 5 days and greater.
Assign activity dependencies to all new sub-activities (show at least 2 types of activity
dependencies/ main activity required) without changing the total duration of the main
activities. Additionally, milestones must be defined and incorporated for all main activities
with the duration of 5 days and greater. The newly assigned sub-activities, activity
dependencies and milestones must be clearly presented in your project schedules.
1.2 Construct and present a co
ect project schedule for Scenario-1 using project activities
given in Table 1.
1.3 Conduct a critical path analysis and carefully apply the 3-point estimate technique on
identified critical activities to develop an estimated project schedule. It is assumed that all
activities will be 35% shorter than the presented schedule if we fast track the orientation
through crashing. On the other hand, without appropriate risk management planning, the
durations of critical activities extend by 60%. Present a changed schedule (Scenario-2)
incorporating a 3-point analysis to all critical activities with these new timings. Effectively
perform a final, technical schedule analysis using the results obtained from project
scheduling conducted in the previous stages. Critically compare these two scenarios and
carefully discuss the impact of schedule changes. Appropriately identify two schedule
control techniques or tools and carefully discuss how they can assist the schedule
management of this project.
