The development of
ain is fastest in the age duration of birth to 5 years (Pem, 2015). In this age, the early experiences and interactions significantly contribute to the
ain structure and capacities. Protective and responsive relationships during this age impact a healthy architecture of
ain which builds stronger foundation for health of children. The absence of responsible relations attributes to high stress and destroys the architecture of
ain at young age. Parental guidance and support promotes positive health and protects the child from potential adverse health issues like anxiety and depression at adolescent age.
In Australia, several factors contribute to health problems in children such as smoking habits in mothers, homelessness, low intake of vegetables and fruits etc. According to 2017-18 statistics, the major chronic health issues faced by children of age 0-5 years include anxiety, allergy and asthma (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2020). Such health conditions during developmental stage, may inte
upt in normal growth and development and may elevate the vulnerability of children. Managing health issues in children is complex approach and requires addressing social, psychological and economic determinants of children and their families. The leading causes of disease burden in Australian Children aged 0-5 years of age are low birth weight complications, asphyxia and birth trauma, sudden infant death syndrome, cardiovascular defects and asthma (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2020). Among indigenous children, the gastrointestinal infection is also considered one of the contributing factors.
The topic of child health is important for research however earlier literature reviews done over this topic did not find any reliable and authentic sources of information.
Research Aim
This research aims to investigate the gaps identified in literature review conducted earlier over the topic of child health. The study would also analyze the regulating factors, associated and inte
elated factors which affect child health.
Research Question
Review the importance of demographic factors and parental guidance as regulating factor for child health.
Underpinning Theoretical Frameworks
The National Framework for Universal Child and Family Health Services recommends identifying critical stages in child development, contact care providers for availing important information required by parents and adhere to the immunization schedules (Australians’ Health Ministry’s Advisory Council, 2011). The maternal physical and psychological health during pregnancy and two years post partum is the foundation of ‘First 1000 days’ in Global Health Policy (Worthman, Tomlinson & Rotheram-Borus, 2016). Australian Regulations and Standards also limit the exposure of advertising of unhealthy foods to the children.
