Introduction
· Case studies are a popular research approach widely used in education and social sciences.
· Policy case studies allow identification of in-depth view of a particular situation.
· This policy case study presentation will focus upon NIAA.
Policy case studies are an essential tool, which could be used in order to identify the significance and effectiveness of implication. This presentation will discuss National Indigenous Australians Agency. Efforts will be made to present the rationales behind the development of this policy along with various assumptions, arguments and interest associated with this policy.
Policy Substance and Background
· The NIAA was established on the executive order signed by the governor general on 29 May 2019.
· Before this, there numerous other acts and policies for the indigenous population
· However, this policy was specifically established to provide advice to the government regarding priorities and policy making for the indigenous population.
· Major assumption is to lead the commonwealth activities towards promotion of reconciliation.
· Arguments for this policy were to deliver programs and services to the indigenous population.
Before the establishment of NIAA, there were numerous laws and policies such as, protection policies of 1911 to protect the rights of indigenous population, The Aboriginal Protection Act 1869, The Aboriginal Protection Board and much more; however, none of them was specifically reporting and advising the Prime minister and other ministers regarding the required policy making for these people (National Indigenous Australian Agency, 2020).
However, with the implication of NIAA, agency will lead and coordinate the Commonwealth policy development along with other    service delivery for Aboriginal and To
es Strait Islanders. Likewise, they will report directly to the Prime Minister in order to prioritise the decision making for these people.
