Additional    Information

Your    overall    paper    will    be    graded    based    on    clarity    and    the    strength    of    your
arguments.

For    clarity,    I    will    be    grading    based    on    how    well    you’re    able    to    explain    the    ideas
necessary    to    answer    each    of    the    questions    listed    above.    Please    be    prepared    to
answer    the    question    in    its    entirety.    Any    part    of    the    question    you    don’t    answer    will
cause    you    to    lose    points.

Also,    don’t    forget    to    explain    philosophical    ideas    in    YOUR    OWN    WORDS.    Try    to    do
this    as    much    as    you    can    and    avoid    using    lengthy    direct    quotes    from    the    book.

For    strength    of    arguments,    I    will    be    grading    based    on    how    well    an    argument    you’re
able    to    form.    Clearly    introduce    your    claims    and    then    provide    main    points    to    back
them    up.    Devote    your    paper    to    fair    and    reasonable    arguments    so    as    to    avoid
personal    bias.

Citing    and    Formatting

If    you    would    like,    you    are    free    to    use    the    Rachels    text    while    citing.    Although,    I    will
not    require    this.    You    are    also    free    to    use    your    notes,    as    well    as    the    PowerPoint    Slides
and    additional    articles/texts    used    throughout    the    course.

As    far    as    citations    go,    you    do    have    to    cite.    However,    since    I    already    know    the    Rachels
text,    you    don’t    need    a    works    cited    page    (unless    you    are    using    additional    sources    to
make    further    points).    You    also    don’t    have    to    cite    the    movie    or    game    you’re    refe
ing
to.    As    long    as    you    let    me    know    what    the    movie/game    is    in    the    paper    and    what    year    it
came    out/who    made    it,    that’s    all    I    need    to    know.

You    can    use    any    citation    format    you    want,    just    be    consistent    with    it.    Personally    I    like
to    use    MLA    (Rachels    12).

DO    NOT    Plagiarize.    If    you    do,    I    will    have    to    send    your    paper    to    the    college    and    the
punishment    will    end    up    being    quite    severe.    Just    don’t    cheat    and    you’ll    be    fine.
For    information    about    what    constitutes    plagiarism,    see    syllabus.

Make    sure    your    paper    adheres    to    the    following    requirements:    Times    new    roman,
12-point    font,    double-spaced,    one    inch    margins.    Also,    be    sure    to    include    page
numbers.    This    paper    will    be    worth    a    total    of    75    Points    (8    points    for    each    step,
including    extra    points    for    spelling/gramma
neatness/etc.).

Step 1
There are several philosophical divisions into which we might go. Practical and theoretical philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, and much more may all be found in philosophy. However now, let us concentrate on the concept of serious reflection on morals, often known as ethics. What does it mean to act in a morally co
ect manner? Is it possible to have total assurance about morality? How may ethical difficulties be resolved?
We need many concepts to have the absolute necessities for a moral school of thought, according to the bare minimum definition of morality. As a result, several ethical frameworks have been developed and implemented throughout history. In the next article, I will talk about two of these frameworks that fascinate me: Kantian Ethics and Utilitarianism, as well as how they relate to Paramount Studios' Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
Step 2
Kantian Ethics, developed by the well-known philosopher Immanuel Kant, is the first ethical system that fascinates me. This normative school of thinking contends that morality is not a matter of determining what would result in the best outcomes. Instead, the overarching concept is to pursue good activities regardless of the consequences. We must always observe these absolute moral principles, which are determined by the Categorical Imperative (Adnan).
The Categorical Imperative is a rational collection of statements intended to demonstrate why moral norms must be observed at all times. "Act solely according to that maxim by which you may at the same time wish that it should become a universal law," Kant states in the first rule (Camenzind). To put it another way, the moral code should be made for everyone to obey. To make a rule absolute, consider what the world would be like if everyone observed it at all times. If the world is free of issues, proceed to make the rule absolute.
Step 3
"Act such that you treat humanely, whether in your own person or in that of another, always as an aim and never as a means alone," Kant says in the second Categorical Imperative. Kant advises us to treat people with respect, fairness, and other virtues. This moral paradigm has both advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that it is intended to be a realistic method of determining how to act. It also emphasizes activities rather than allowing us to do anything we want in order to reach the desired result. The disadvantage is that one person's perception of the world may differ significantly from that of another. Furthermore, with this school of thought, there are no exceptions (Mu
ay). So, even if lying is the wisest course of action in a certain scenario, Kantian Ethics will not tolerate it.
Utilitarianism is the second ethical framework. This school of thinking is diametrically opposed to Kantian Ethics. Utilitarianism is a moral, consequentialist school of thinking that states that we must do...
