Stages of Team Development
The procedure of learning to work jointly efficiently is called team development. It was showed by the research that alike other industry workforces; teams working in health care industry undergo definitive phases throughout development. An educational psychologist named Bruce Tuckman has identified a five-stage development procedure, which most of the teams follow for becoming highly productive. (Eugene et al., 2018) He termed the phases as following: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.
Here are the stages that help in building an effective and productive health care team:
Forming
The stage of forming engages a phase of direction and getting aware. Ambiguity is elevated throughout this phase, and people are trying to look for direction and leadership. An associate who affirms authority or is well-informed may be appeared for taking control. When team associates ask such queries like “What is offered by the team to me?” “What does the team expects of me?” or “How am I fitting in?” Most of these communications are social as associates become acquainted with each other.

Members might differ about goals set by the team, and subgroups and cliques might outline around strong personalities or points of accord. For getting through this phase, members need to work for overcoming obstructions, for accepting individual differentiations, and to give effort during contradictory ideas on team e
ands and objectives. Teams may get overwhelmed in this phase. Breakdown for addressing conflicts might cause in long-standing troubles.
Norming
After teams get through the storming stage, conflict is resolute and some level of unity comes into sight. In the norming phase, consensus get developed around whom the organizer or leaders are, and roles of individual members. (Grand et al., 2016). Interpersonal dissimilarities start getting resolved, and a sense of unity and agreement gets emerged. Performance of the team gets increased all through this phase as members learn cooperating and beginning to focus on goals of the team. But, the agreement is uncertain, and if variance re-occurs the team slides back into storming stage.
