a. Sending a copy of the purchase order from the purchasing department to the receiving department.

b. Having the “quantity ordered” field “blinded” on the receiving department copy of the purchase order.

c. Sending a copy of the vendor invoice to the purchasing department for approval of payment.

d. Sending a copy of the vendor invoice to the requisitioning department for approval of payment.

A. Arguments for – The PO is issued in triplicate (Original- Purchase dept., Duplicate – Receiving department, Triplicate - Purchase requisition initiating executive/Accounts department). Receiving department is responsible for receiving, unloading and inspecting material and hence must have access to PO copy to check quantity and physical condition of material received by matching with DC. Any shortage/breakage/damage should be intimated to supplier and Credit Note be obtained.
	Argument Against- It promotes the bureaucracy and Red tapism since unnecessarily 	adding layer which delays the delivering of raw material , which may impact the 	production process. PO is very time consuming and tedious process involving inviting 	quotes from several suppliers, consulting various department who may or may not be 	available etc.
