Finance 380 – Investment Valuation and Analysis
Company Analysis in Value Line Format
Due date: Friday, May 1, 2020 Prof. D. M. Smith
Value Line is one of the most widely recognized security research firms in the world. Many successful investors rely on its analyses and common stock, mutual fund, convertible bond, and option recommendations. With respect to information content, each Value Line company analysis page is a marvel of conciseness and completeness.
Each student must select a company from the Google doc at this link: https:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Dkdp9Q9ikbia90zAN8rZmLFryGNhSkRM1sHBUObzqYA/edit?usp=sharing
Then create a Value Line-style analysis. I will provide a Value Line page template, and each student must enter the data for his/her company into this template.
I have attempted to include on the list only companies that Value Line does not cover.
Value Line’s company analyses are based on its own industry surveys. Please keep in mind that for this assignment each company should be analyzed in the context of an industry analysis. Here is a tip: Go to www.Albany.edu, and select Li
aries. Then select Tools and then Database Finder. Then type “industry.” IBISWorld and Mergent are both good industry resources. (Note to UASBIG members – these are good resources for you in that role too.)
To recap, the deliverable is a one-page analysis of your company, using Value Line’s format. Also—this is completely optional, but if you wish—separately from your one-page analysis, you may submit up to two pages of clearly organized supporting material.
