TLM1 — TLM1 TASK 1: CREATING A WHITE PAPER
TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION — C768
PRFA — TLM1
COMPETENCIES
405.1.4 : Foundations of Technical Communication
The graduate integrates basic elements of professional discourse, including audience analysis, the writing
process, co
ect grammar, and appropriate design elements, into technical communication artifacts.
405.1.5 : Communication Style
The graduate makes strategic and appropriate communication decisions based on the audience.
405.1.6 : Applications of Technical Writing
The graduate creates various technically written artifacts using appropriate technical communication
concepts.
SCENARIO
You have recently been hired to work in your cu
ent field of study. Your new manager has informed you that
the organization values innovation and asks that new employees write a white paper on an emerging
technology, practice, or process in the field they studied in college. Once your manager reviews and approves
the white paper, you will be asked to create several additional communications for different audiences: an
executive summary for senior leadership, a press release and an FAQ that will both be distributed company-
wide, and a multimedia presentation that you will deliver to colleagues in your department who share you
level of technical expertise. You will also need to write an email inviting your colleagues to your multimedia
presentation.
REQUIREMENTS
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no
more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from
sources, even if cited co
ectly. The similarity report that is provided when you submit your task can be used
as a guide.

You must use the ru
ic to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that
will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one ru
ic
aspect. The ru
ic aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc., unless
specified in the task requirements. All other submissions must be file types that are uploaded and submitted
as attachments (e.g., .docx, .pdf, .ppt).

A.  Describe your organization, including the following information:
1.  The products or services your organization produces
2.  The size of your organization and its number of locations
3.  The industry of which your organization is a part

B.  Identify the emerging technology, practice, or process that will be the subject of your white paper, and
then review at least three works that have been written about your subject in the past five years. You will
use this research to inform your white paper.

Note: These other works may include interviews, white papers, research studies, or other types of
work by industry professionals.

1.  Write a summary for each of the three works that you reviewed. Each summary should identify the title
of the source, include a discussion of the main topics, and explain why the information is important.

C.  Create a white paper, as defined in the learning resource for this course, that discusses an emerging
technology, practice, or philosophy that is related to your academic field of study. This white paper will be
eviewed by your immediate supervisor, as well as several thought leaders in your organization. The
white paper should be 2–3 pages long and must include the following:
1.  A thorough explanation of your chosen emerging technology, practice, or process, based on you
esearch
2.  A compelling argument discussing how the emerging technology, practice, or process could benefit you
organization

D.  Explain how the diction in the white paper is appropriate for its audience.

E.  Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, o
summarized.

F.  Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

Note: Do not move on to Task 2 since Task 2 will not be evaluated until after you pass Task 1.

Abstract
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an emerging technology out of the Information Technology (IT)
world. With a common fear in our society of Artificial Intelligence taking jobs away from people. RPA is
not viewed as a form of technology to replace human labor but work alongside the human user. This
emerging technology can be beneficial for any company; and ways to implement automation into a
company.
What We’ll Cover in This White Pape
● What is Robotic Process Automation
● Changes in our day-to-day
● RPA in healthcare
● Challenges to implementing RPA in a workplace
Methodology
In preparing this document, the objective was to understand how Robotic Processing Automation
functions in a work-related environment and how the healthcare (palliative and hospice care) would work
with an RPA system. Tech magazine, informative Tech websites, companies who develop RPA systems,
and speaking with healthcare professionals (face to face) were my sources for information.

What is Robotic Process Automation?
In the world of technology, at times can be hard to keep up with the advancements. The chance you hear
of a new form of technology, a more updated product is already on its way. We hear program software or
simply software, depending on the experiences you have with technology or first-hand knowledge.
Potentially can be an a
ay of topics, ideas, or understanding. Just as: servers, the cloud, or wireless
technology software
anches out, which reach far and wide to many concepts and ideas.
A type of software that is becoming increasingly popular is Robotic Process Automation (RPA for short).
Automation in the workplace has been with resistance at times due to fear of machines taking jobs. RPA
works simultaneously alongside a human counterpart. An RPA will do the task the same way, time and
time again. There is no self-learning similar to the way some Artificial intelligence works. Allows
epetitive workloads to transfer to the program. Instead of replacing the workforce, it becomes an
assistant in managing redundant tasks.
Allowing the software to complete the repetitive jobs, freeing up valuable time from the staff. When
talking with a hospice nurse Amanda Laporte, during the interview she estimated that around 3 hours of
her day was spent on documentation, which includes authorizations, medicine lists, and visitation notes.
Documentation was the largest task in her day-to-day functions and stated that the majority if not all othe
nurses would say the same.
Changes in our day-to-day
Having an RPA system would be beneficial across the entire company. Mundane tasks that are repetitive
and time-consuming could now be done by a program that never sleeps or eats. Paul Actis wrote an article
for Health Information and Management Systems Society on May 5th, 2021. Titled “Changing the Way
We Work”, he goes into detail about the benefits on the financial side of a business. Companies showed
improvement in compliance, productivity, quality, and accuracy of work. These companies also show a
cost reduction in spending.
In the article Actis, also gives examples of the ways an RPA can assist different departments.

Introduction
The technology of cloud computing has several advantages for the healthcare sector. It enables the virtualization of data storage and access, as well as the remote access to software and computational resources from anywhere in the world over the internet. Numerous advantages of cloud computing in healthcare exist, including improved productivity, enhanced patient care, and cost savings. We will examine how cloud computing is changing the healthcare sector in this white paper.
Main Point 1: Benefits of Cloud Computing in Healthcare
Increased efficiency is one of the main advantages of cloud computing for the healthcare industry. Healthcare practitioners may quickly access and exchange patient data and medical records utilizing cloud-based technologies from any location at any time (Rajabion, Lila, et al). As a result, there is no longer a need to physically store records, and the chance of losing or misplacing crucial data is decreased. The flexibility to scale resources up or down as needed, which lowers costs and enables healthcare providers to more efficiently manage resources, is another key benefit of cloud computing. The safety and privacy of patient information is further ensured by the additional security measures and data encryption provided by cloud-based solutions (Dang, Minh, et al). In terms of patient care, cloud computing also provides a number of important advantages. Healthcare practitioners, for instance, may simply and rapidly access patient data and medical records utilizing cloud-based solutions, enabling more effective and efficient treatment. Telemedicine, which facilitates remote care delivery and enhances access to healthcare services, may also be advantageous to patients.
