one of the following research topics. The report must include at least one case study to
eflect the topic of discussion.
 Business process re-engineering after ERP implementation
 Integrating ERP systems with other information systems
 Post implementation modification of ERP systems
 Organizational implications of ERP systems
 Cloud-based Enterprise Systems
The following steps are outlined as guidelines for this assessment:
1. Each member of the team is expected to select, and summarise at least three
peer-reviewed articles reflecting one of the above-mentioned topics. (3 Marks)
This should be included as an Appendix in the team report.

You are reminded to read the “Plagiarism” section of the course description. Your essay
should be a synthesis of ideas from a variety of sources expressed in your own words.
All reports must use the APA referencing style.
University Referencing/Citation Style Guide:
The University has published a style guide to help students co
ectly reference and cite
information they use in assignments (American Psychological Association (APA)
citation style,
http:
www.ballarat.edu.au/aasp/student/learning_support/generalguide/print/ch06s04.
shtml or Australian citation style
Reports are to be presented in hard copy in size 12 Arial Font and double spaced.
Your report should include a list of references used in the essay and a bibliography of
the wider reading you have done to familiarize yourself on the topic.
Report Submission: Hard-copy to tutors/lecturers assignment box in week 11. Double-
sided printing for the hard-copy is encouraged in order to save paper. Declaration
should be done to declare how much (percentage) each of the team has contributed to
the report.
A passing grade will be awarded to assignments adequately addressing all assessment
criteria. Higher grades require better quality and more effort. For example, a minimum
is set on the wider reading required. A student reading vastly more than this minimum
will be better prepared to discuss the issues in depth and consequently their report is
likely to be of a higher quality. So before submitting, please read through the
assessment criteria very carefully.
Marking guides are provided.

Enterprise System: Introduction
Enterprise System is also known as Enterprise Resource Planning or simply put ERP. Enterprise System is the net total of the hardware and the software which is needed for any organization to run its functions smoothly. It is a combination of all things needed to successfully run the company. They themselves are a set of codes of a sophisticated software that can process large volumes of data to understand and analyze and provide reliable solution to the business organizations. (BusinessDictionary.com, 2018)
These systems are generally integrated, which means that they will handle or have the capacity to handle more than one set of operations for the company and that will eventually help the company to successfully run the business.
They came into existence in the 1960s. At that time they were known as MRPs or Material Requirement Planning. Their main task then was to service and assisting them with the manufacturing of complex products. But the problem with these systems were that they were very expensive and clumsy. And the requirement of additional resources that had to be used to just set them up and run them properly was also huge. They did not serve as a major cost advantage.
Soon developments started to happen in this area and by 1979 Oracle was able to offer SQL based database management system. Since then till the recent times a lot of innovation has happened and it continues to happen still. The major players in this domain are SAP, Oracle and Microsoft which continue to
ing out new and innovative enterprise based solutions in the market for the businesses to choose from. ("What is ERP | Oracle", 2018)
Cloud Computing
Any type of business be it retail or e-commerce relies on usage of applications that help the business run smoothly. Now, the company can store these applications in their own data storage centers. But in today’s time when all the companies are trying to get the cost advantage, managing these huge data centers is simply not the best viable option. It is a lot costlier as the company is not only investing in managing of these data centers, they are also investing in additional resources to run these data centers. Most of the times these companies do not need such in-house resources as it becomes very costly to manage them. ("What is Cloud Computing? - Amazon Web Services", 2018)
Thus, an alternative to that is cloud computing. In this companies provide these data storages on rent and the businesses can access them from their own offices using just a computer and the internet. The complete task of managing these data centers, their servicing and maintenance is taken care by other vendors. Cloud computing is really beneficial as it has allowed smaller business organizations to flourish as they now do not need to invest in additional data storage units. They can now simply rent them on cloud. Even for larger companies they have a cost advantage in renting the cloud space and gain higher margins. ("What is cloud computing? A beginner’s guide | Microsoft Azure", 2018)
Cloud computing came into existence in the 1960s. at that time the idea was passed around by different phases for example, software as a service but everything was under the overall um
ella of cloud computing. The idea behind cloud computing was to allow users to be connected to a particular network from anywhere in the world. These people could access a number of programs, applications and data from the comfort of their homes without having to wo
y about the safety of their information.
Since the 1960s the cloud network has seen a lot of improvements and has become a very sophisticated system which has a mass appeal. The uses of cloud computing in today’s times has moved beyond the businesses. Instead new range of customers are also looking to upload their data on the cloud for easy accessibility from any location. These data storage units are maintained by a third party and they provide the storage space for users to access. The users can store their information on this storage space and that allows them the option of accessing this information from their laptops, computers or mobiles etc. from anywhere on the planet with just an internet connection that is needed for them to login to the cloud network. (ComputerWeekly.com, 2018)
Cloud Based ERP
Cloud based enterprise solutions help the businesses to access the relevant software that they need to successfully run their day to day operations without the hassle of investing in either the hardware to store the software or the software itself. On the cloud the businesses can lease or purchase the license of these software for a particular period of time with the storage of all the relevant data also being provided by the host. ("What is Enterprise Systems", 2018)
This helps the businesses to lower their operating costs as they do not have to invest in doing things on their own and even in cloud they pay only when they have to rent, which means pay per use.
Advantages of Cloud Based ERP
· Reduction in costs- the upfront costs are substantially reduced in this case. The only costs involved is paying to access the solutions on the internet. Even the operating costs get reduced substantially.
· Wide range of options- the cloud service providers have a lot of options available to them for the customers to choose from. The customers can pick and choose the enterprise solutions that they feel best suits their business’ needs. This software is designed to the different roles that they can be applied for and that makes them even better as the companies can now choose from the options to choose what best suits their needs. ("Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software suppliers – Essential Guide", 2018)
· Possibility of scalability- the solutions that are provided to the organizations are bundled in such a way that they can choose the best packages according to the corporate plan of...
