The article mainly describes the path of federal jobs in the Washington D.C before, 
during and after the financial crisis. It further discusses the effect on federal jobs in the 
Washington D.C, if congress fails to act and the so-called “sequestration” (automatic cuts in 
expenditure) comes into effect. The „sequester‟ is likely to force federal agencies to cut their 
expenditure by 10%. If this happens, there is expectation of large furloughs of workers in the 
Defense Department followed by National Park Services and Federal Aviation Administration.
