In response to the issues raised in the ‘online university enrolment system’ case study provided,
identify the functional and non-functional requirement for an online enrolment system and build and
document a set of use cases for that system.
Context
Requirement analysis techniques and skills are of fundamental importance to a Business Analyst, who
is often required to help business users in terms of identifying what they really need in their new
systems. This assessment allows you to enhance your requirement analysis techniques and skills by
capturing the business requirement of a system, identify “what” the proposed system will do, “how”
the system will perform those tasks, and communicate the identified requirement through a set of
use case diagrams and their associated documentations.

1. Please read the attached MIS605_ Assessment 1_Case Study. Note that every piece of
information provided in the following case serves a purpose.
2. Once you have completed reading the case study. Please answer the following questions:
Question 1.
(a) Who are the stakeholders in this project? Please list at least four stakeholders. (2 marks)
(b) Who are the Actors in this System? Please list at least four actors (4 mark)
Question 2.
Identify and list at least TEN (10) major functional requirements for the System. (20 marks)
Question 3.
Using your own experience with similar online student enrolment systems and the information
provided in the case study, identify and list at least FIVE (5) non-functional requirements for the
System. Explain and justify each non-functional requirement. (20 marks)
Question 4.
Using your own experience with similar online student enrolment systems and the information
provided in the case study, build a comprehensive set of use case diagrams for the System using MS
Visio. (30 marks)
Please note that the case study has not and does not intend to provide a comprehensive description
of requirements for the System. This means that you are required to use your own experience with
information systems in general and online student enrolment systems in particular to develop this set
of use case diagrams. For example, would Student Enrolment Officers be required to log into the
System before performing any tasks?

Stakeholders
The online student enrolment system has hollowing stakeholders for the website (Then, P. H).
· Students- The system will allow the student to select, edit or remove the courses could stop it also allows a secure mode to make the payment for the selected courses.
· The administrators are the stakeholders of the system will stop the program directors and enrolment officers behave as the administrator of the system and they are allowed to generate a courses report which is used to find out the total number of students who have enrolled in a particular subject. The program directors are allowed to update or add the description for any course. They also have the authority to check for the availability of the course dial in which semester the course is offered to the students.
· The faculty can use the system to manage the registration process. They have the responsibility to provide the information about the subjects and courses.
· The timetable officers will also use the system to create, add or delete the timetables and they will also check for the clashes of timetable with the help of system.
· Another stakeholder is the software developer. They develop and deploy the system for the online enrolment process and also provides a manual to the users (Jaggars, S., & Xu, D).
Actors
The actors can be defined as the external entities which interacts with the system and uses the online enrolment system. The following are the actors who will interact with the system.
1) New user
the system will allow for new user to register them self. There will be approximately 5000 students teach try semester who can apply to select the courses. The registration of new user is the mean function of the enrolment system and the new user is the main actor of the system.
2) The students are the second actor of the system and they have the option to view the course list and the available courses for their semester. They will have a complete list of the courses and also the detailed information about each course which includes the prerequisites, fee and the credits.
3) The faculty are those actors who are responsible for assigning the courses to the students. They can change the description of the course and also check for the time of the course lectures (Narayan, P. L., Palanisamy, K., & Sethuraman, R).
4) The admin is responsible for generating the report for the details of courses and the faculty list. They have access for each and every function of the enrolment system.
5) The timetable officer is responsible for generating the timetable. They will check for the courses and the available faculty members and make sure that there is no clash for any subject in the timetable.
Functional requirements
The function requirements of a system can be defined as the requirements which are mentioned by the client and these are documented to help the developer. The functional requirements are documented to make sure that there is no e
or while developing the system and all the requirements are met as mentioned by the client. When the client receives a system, he checks for the requirements using the document. The following are some of the major function requirements which must be included in the online enrolment system.
1) The new enrolment system will allow the students to get the detailed information about the students and lecturers who will be teaching the courses.
2) The system will also contain the history of all the course details and the courses attended by the students.
