Preliminary Applied Research Proposal
You have slowly been building the initial components of an applied research proposal over the last 5 weeks. Now in the final unit of the course, you will prepare your preliminary research proposal and submit it for the Unit 6 Assignment. The following structure can be used to guide the development of your preliminary applied research proposal.
Note: Given that the preliminary proposal you complete in this course will be the basis of the final proposal you complete in your capstone course, you will need to save your graded Unit 6 Assignment. Similar to CJ graduate students going on to CJ598, Homeland Security and Emergency Management graduate students going on to HM598 will further refine their research proposals that they started in CJ525.
The research proposal should be 9–12 pages long (not including title page, reference section, or appendices), double-spaced, and use APA formatting. Each proposal should have a title page including your name, affiliation, course, professor, and date, using APA format.
Your proposal should include the following headings and subheadings:
1. Introduction: This will be an edited version of the introduction you completed from the Unit 3 Assignment.
2. Problem Statement: Insert the problem statement that you created in Unit 3, making any co
ections or revisions needed based on feedback you received from your professor.
3. Literature Review: Insert the literature review that you completed earlier in this course after making any necessary co
ections or revisions based on feedback you received from your professor. The review should include each of the elements originally required for the Unit 4 Assignment:
a. Introduction: Revise and resubmit the introduction from your Unit 4 Assignment.
. Theoretical Considerations: Revise and resubmit the theoretical considerations section from your Unit 4 Assignment.
c. Literature Review: Revise and resubmit the literature review section from your Unit 4 Assignment.
d. Summary and Conclusions: Revise and resubmit the summary and conclusions section from your Unit 4 Assignment.
4. Research Design: Insert the elements of the research design that you completed from the Unit 4 Assignment, making any necessary co
ections or revisions to those elements based on feedback you received from your professor. The review should include each of these earlier elements, as well as new sections, as itemized below:
a. Research Purpose: Revise and resubmit the research purpose from your Unit 3 Assignment.
. Study Variables and Conceptual Definitions: Insert the independent and dependent variables identified in the Unit 3 Assignment. Conceptualize each independent variable and each dependent variable, fully defining what would and would not count for each for purposes of your study.
c. Research Hypothesis: Revise and resubmit the research hypothesis from your Unit 3 Assignment.
d. Research Goals: Revise and resubmit the goals from your Unit 3 Assignment.
e. Data Approach: Describe whether you will take a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approach to your research. Explain the rationale for your choice, describing why this approach will most effectively permit you to test your research hypothesis. Support your rationale with reference to scholarly sources.
f. Ethical Considerations: Describe how you would ethically conduct your research. Explain how would ensure the protection of any human subjects and confidentiality of data for your proposed study.
5. Conclusion: Provide a summary of the problem and plan for studying the issue, emphasizing why the research is important and what would be accomplished were the proposed study to be conducted.
6. References: Include full APA references for all in-text citations in the body of your research proposal.
7. Appendices: Include appendices, if any, to supplement the information presented in the research proposal.
Be sure to cite your sources in the body of your paper and list them on your reference page, consistent with APA guidelines. Remember, applied research is not common knowledge, so it is important to cite to all of your sources of information.

Introduction
With the flare-up of the pandemic that is because of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), there has been a
oad of it among the detainees. The populace at prison is almost 11 million around the world. The restricted space and offices restrict them from rehearsing the prudent steps, for example, social removing and hand sterilization. This people group is practically disregarded, and the approach creators ought to likewise zero in on tending to their necessities (Franco PC, et al., 2020). The space inside the co
ectional facilities being restricted, keeping up appropriate social removing was a test. The detainees were at high danger of getting seriously contaminated that may even prompt passing. Not many of the US jails have the office to oblige a flood in wiped out considers like that occu
ed during the Spanish flu pandemic (Hawks L, et al., 2020). There were not many conventions and security estimates, for example, social removing, hand disinfecting that should have been carefully followed to remain safe. In any case, these are practically inconceivable in the restorative offices (Rubin R., 2020). Yet, this won't help in bearing the total wellbeing costs of the detained people. Certain a
angements, for example, dodging pointless prison affirmations, conceding the indictment of minor cases and a
ival of individuals in pretrial confinement should be possible to relieve the potential damages (Hawks L, et al., 2020).
The unbalanced effect of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) among the US detainees is generally important for the wellbeing dissimilarity parts of the viral disease. Nobody can be viewed as protected until everybody is protected, thus the detainees additionally have the advantage to be ensured and remained careful by forestalling and alleviating the viral disease in the custodial settings (Franco PC, et al., 2020). According to the assertion from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), individuals who are imprisoned or confined hail from various areas, the rate to contaminations is presumably high among them. Taking into account this, the penitentiaries and co
ectional facilities have prohibited the guests (Rubin R., 2020). Certain a
angements, for example, dodging pointless prison affirmations, conceding the indictment of minor cases and a
ival of individuals in pretrial confinement should be possible to relieve the potential damages. On the off chance that at all the detainees are to be delivered into the local area, suitable estimates, for example, convenient development of those with persistent ailments, improving the openness and moderateness of wellbeing net projects like Medicaid ought to be supported (Hawks L, et al., 2020).
As the staff individuals and the detained individuals move all through the premises, the odds of disease are more among them. A portion of the supporters have proposed the a
ival of the prisoners. The alleviation proportions of executing the utilization of thermometers and sanitizers were effectively done. This all records for the counteraction of wide spread of the COVID-19 among the detainees and different prisoners (Rubin R., 2020). The suitable a
angement choices could assist with accomplishing it (Franco PC, et al., 2020). The calamity fermenting in the co
ectional facilities and penitentiaries can be overwhelmed by ca
ying out proactive and forceful measures (Hawks L, et al., 2020).
Problem Statement:
This study aims to understand the impact of the release of inmates from the jail to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the prisoners. This study will help to understand if releasing them will provide a solution for the pandemic spread in the jail.
All the prisoners in the jails across US would be considered for this study. It would be conducted retrospectively for a period of 3 months from April to June of 2020, as this was the peak time of spread and would give relevant data of the same.
Literature Review:
Introduction:
The Hillsborough County Sheriff has ordered the release of the inmates from the jail in order to prevent the spread of COVID. The managements of jail and officials had taken several cautious measures to protect the populace at prison either by hand sanitizing or by social removing. As mentioned by Andrews (2017), the detainers were at high risk of getting affected from this spread as not each US jail has the equal co
ectional facilities. This study will help to understand the consequence of the release of the inmates from the jail in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among all the prisoners inside the jail and the way this release can provide a solution from the pandemic spread.
Theoretical Considerations:
According to the research hypothesis studied in the earlier unit this retrospective observational study highlights to understand the impact of the release of the inmates from the jail in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the prisoners in jail. As stated by Rubin (2020), this hypothesis helps to study that whether this release of the inmates is fruitful in preventing the spread of coronavirus among the prisoner or not. The independent variables state the releasing of the inmates by implementing several safety net programs and initiating necessary a
angements within the custodial settings inside the prison.
On the other hand, the dependent variables state the reduction of the spread in order to mitigate and prevent from the Coronavirus among the prisoners. The constructive results would help this study to modify the policies for prisoners, in terms of safety in the priority list with few limitations for the release. If the spread continues within the prison, which would affect the lives of the prisoners, then the US prisoners will be set free outside the jail (Hawks, Woolhandler & McCormick, 2020).
According to a study by Pyrooz, La
ecque, Tostlebe and Useem (2020), co
ection officials, after the pandemic in US, have responded with several shifting of institutional practices, which include the several programming, suspension of visitation and releasing of the prisoners. This is because they lack several co
ectional facilities, due to which they, in return, lack confidence in their abilities in preventing the out
eak and treat the infected prisoners. As stated by the authors, several strategies are required in order to mitigate the spread, consequence and fear of COVID-19 in the co
ectional facilities as this disease has the capability in transforming the main purpose of the US jail.
According to a study by Novisky, Narvey and Semenza (2020), most of the prison jurisdiction system all over the US has provided information regarding the measures that had been...
