Ans- The article which I have selected is – Predicting Graduate Student Success
in an MBA Program: Regression versus Classification
 What is the problem, opportunity, or challenge addressed in the article?
Ans- The problem is described as to predict the quality of the student (the student who
will perform good during perusing MBA) while accepting the student in the graduate
program. This kind of analysis had been done in past by various people by using various
methods; however the challenge is that the accuracy in prediction was 64% maximum.
The article provides opportunity to compare past analysis with the help of an experiment
and conclude on best way of prediction with maximum accuracy.
 What is the solution, idea, approach, etc., recommended/implemented in the
article?
Ans- The article first analyze past existing predictive models and draw the best
approach to be followed. Later it analyze the predictive model based on 2 separate
experiments using least square regression, Discriminant Analysis, Logistic Regression
and neural network. The idea it
ings on the table is that, the category accuracy is also as
important as predictive accuracy. It also manifests the effect of training set composition.
 How does this help operations? Is the problem, opportunity, or challenge solved
completely or partially?
Ans- This help to predict the good quality of student while admitting them in the graduate
program. The predictive model helps institutes to identify the prospective students to
offer advance education as well as improve their reputation.
The researcher able to solve the challenge partially by increasing the predictive efficiency
as well as by identifying the right model of forecasting with challenges in the training set
composition. It concludes that performance of categorical based models is marginally
etter in case of supplemental experiments. It also shows that the regression approach
appears to be better approach and predicting values fairly closer to other approaches.
 What are the takeaways from the article?
There are two important points which can be takeaway-
1. Category accuracy is also as important as overall predictive accuracy.
2. Even the best Technology can’t provide better result if data requirement is not
well understood specially definition of input and output parameters. For example
in this study, neural network model is providing lower performance results.
 In particular, what are the limitations of the technique?
Ans- Apparently none of mythology used in this study was able to provide prediction
