The Extracurricular and Grades by Maura Casey enlightens us about extracurricular school-based sports that might be considered as an ideal platform to connect with children who might not be aware of the community sports. Essentially, the extracurricular activities enable children to harness their social skills and grasps how one work along with team to attain a shared goal. These activities allow students opportunity to explore varied areas of interest, enhance the self-confidence, build leadership skills and enhance their overall grades.
In the second article, How High School Ruined Leisure by Christine VanDeVelde is a thought-provoking article that explains the impact of the extracurricular activities having transformed from something that one did for fun to an essential currency especially for admission process. Ethos of these article explains the underlying pressure to students not only to score well in academics but to perform well in their extra-circular. Instead of encouraging the students to understand the academic and learn efficiently, making extra circular as a mandate along with loaded curriculum negative impacts students creating more stress for them.
