Introduction  
Tobacco smoking is rampant and among the major causes of preventable death in developed 
countries. Tobacco smoking can give birth to serious health issues like cancer and tuberculosis, 
data states that worldwide almost 22% of the deaths are caused due to smoking. Seeing the 
gravity of health hazards caused due to smoking studying this topic becomes extremely 
important.  
Relationship Between Current Smokers and Immigrants Status  
Smoking is much prevalent in America but the smoking among the migrants differ from that 
among the host population of the country. The studies reveal that the Americans smoke more 
than the migrants as a result suggested that the smoking migrants (men:14.2% and women : 
4.1%) are lower than the Americans i.e. (men: 21.4% and women: 18.1%) (Margot, 2013). The 
studies thus suggest that migrants in general and females specifically smoke less than the U.S-
born population.
