Introduction
Primary health care involves a person-centred and holistic approach to health care. It is made accessible to
people by being located as close as possible to where they live, and supporting their full participation in a
spirit of self-reliance and self-determination. Additionally, Primary Health Care includes personal care with a
focus on health promotion and the prevention of disease. It is underpinned by guiding principles of equity,
access, empowerment, self-determinism and inter-sectoral collaboration, integrated with an understanding
of the determinants of health.
Summary
Three (3) separate case study scenarios relating to differing primary healthcare requirements will be
provided in video format. These are descriptions of different patient situations, communicated by a
Registered Nurse. Students must respond to a number of questions connected to each scene, considering
the implication for each character from a primary healthcare context.
Please refer to the Task Instructions for details on how to complete this task.
