Hi
TOPIC: RESEARCH IN NURSING
My tutor's instructions are:
Some points to include are - Describe the scenario, Identify whether its qualitative or quantitative.
Assessment 2: Assignment 1500 words 30%, due at 26/05/2020
This assessment task provides the opportunity to demonstrate students’ understanding of the different research paradigms, research design and methodologies covered throughout the first 4 weeks of the unit.
Students are required to identify a paradigm and methodology that can be aligned to the following situation in the scenario, with in-depth discussion, justification and analysis of the rationale for their choice. Students need to demonstrate a structured and evidence-based discussion using support from relevant and credible literature.
For this assessment:
Identifythe research problem and formulate a clear research question
Identifyone paradigm and research design that is most relevant to the scenario.
Justifywhy the methodology and methods are appropriate to meet the aims of the study?
Scenario:
Kate is a first-year Master of Health Sciences Student at an Australian University. As a single mother with an 18-month-old daughter, she is concerned she might find it difficult to mix with other students as her priorities will be different. She had a difficult childbirth and her daughter suffers from severe asthma. When Kate is at university, her daughter attends the local childcare centre. Kate herself suffers from type one diabetes and recently has been suffering from anxiety that made her take some medications.
Kate has limited family support and lives in a small unit, a bus ride away from the university. She has been advised by one of her close friends to take some other alternative approaches to relieve anxiety and improve her mental and emotional state. This story brought Kate to the idea of undertaking research in this area for her minor master thesis. She is not sure about how the problem could be formulated to a research question and what research design, methodology and methods are appropriate.
