Introduction
In the year 1938, on the Halloween day, Orson Welles
oadcasted a fictious news rather than reporting the facts and truth. Indeed, he was the most talked about man in United States of America. Orson Wells had performed adaption of novel "The War of the Worlds" authored H.G. Wells on radio. This had
eathed in oxygen into a fictious book thereby generating series of fake news and bulletins for the real thing. Thus, many listeners were misled and misinformed by this incident. With a
ay of phone calls to journalists. newspaper, as well as police calls it was convinced that many people believed in the news without understanding whether the news is co
ect or not. Basically, the entire nation was her. This news even grew to become a sensation as well as mad. Orson Wells had barely realised the magnitude of his actions that had transpired into massive stampede, series of suicides as well as scared the listeners to the point where they were threatened to shoot them on sight. Especially the morning edition literally created panic in the country since people believed it was for real and were deciding to flee the area of invasion. Therefore, I believe the impact of this false
oadcast by Orson Wells was massive. In fact, people started acting like it was directed by Wilson. However, I think it was a radio
oadcast that went beyond control and created colossal chaos in the country. Perhaps, it even played with physic of the people and scaring them to a level of distress. It was extremely wrong use of media! Rather than giving them information, The War of Worlds radio
oadcast actually gave miss-information in the name of getting more listeners. Orson Wells set a wrong precedent to create news on his its own that can sell well and create confusion and stress among listeners. Other form of media like newspapers instead of co
ecting this false news jumped to seize the opportunity. This aggravated the panic and propelled people to run from their home in order to safe their life.
