Introduction
In Australia, the nursing profession helps in recognizing human rights and responsibilities so that the inherent dignity, as well as the equal worth, can be safeguarded. The code of ethics ensures that each of the individuals in clinical practice recognizes and respect the responsibility they have in protecting the civil, social, cultural and political rights of the people. This medication e
or in most of the cases is found to occur in the hospital setting by the health care professionals.
In the cu
ent study, the case study selected is a similar inco
ect administration of medication which was introduced into the patient (Smith, 2019). The case involves Jason, who had met with an accident that resulted in the amputation of an arm,
ain injury and fractured legs. There is extensive rehabilitation which is required not only just to built Jason’s functional skill, but also to make sure the community rehabilitation process will be able to support Jason during his recovery. He also needs psychological and skill development support considering his cu
ent disability due to the loss of an arm.
A critical examination of the situation, compare and contrast of the professional practice
The case reports about a patient Jason who had contracted with serious injuries in his
ain and fractured his leg due to a motor vehicle accident. Further, one of his arms was amputated because of the accident. He is suffering from difficulty in thinking and speech processes. And due to his physical condition, he is suffering from occasional depression. He needs constant care with rehabilitation. Since the cu
ent hospital where he has been treated have a limited inpatient rehabilitation provision, he will be airlifted to Tabletop community for further treatment and care.
It is very important with the cu
ent condition of Jason to analyze whether Jason's family and the community are ready to take care of Jason at this condition. The Tabletop community hospital will help Jason in developing his self-care skill so that he can take care of himself and perform his daily task. With the resulting amputation, Jason has lost his ability to work, and he needs to learn skills to get back to work.
Further, he was under depression not just because of his cu
ent physical condition, but also about the payment of his treatment due to the unresolved payment issue he was facing in his workplace. While transfe
ing of Jason from Glenaurie to Tabletop through air ambulance, there were certain confusions in between the Tabletop and Glenaurie hospital in regard to the payment of the air transfer charges for Jason.
Due to this confusion, there is a delay in the transfer of Jason for the initiation of his care processes. Another critical task, in this case, is the close liaison in between the social workers, psychologist and the family member of Jason for the treatment process.
Identification and implication of the case situation as a healthcare professional in accordance with practice standards and ethics
During the delivery of care, the health care professional needs to follow strict vigilance as well as precautions while providing medical treatment. Further, it is crucial that the healthcare profession follow their best knowledge and skills so that they can take adequate preventive measure in the medication and intervention (Kosari, 2018). As a manager for the case, it is important to make sure Jason receives the best rehabilitation and support with proper interventions.
However, from the case, it is evident that while handling Jason's rehabilitation process, there were several ba
iers in terms of his care. Firstly, due to the lack of adequate staffs and proper documentation, the air transfer of the patient got delayed (Lou et al., 2017). It needs to be remembered that as a code of practice, it is important for Glenauire hospital to keep records of the patients up to date.
With the insufficient resources and shortages of management, there was a communication gap between the social worker, the manager of the case and the Hospital administration, who was handling the release of Jason. This delay can be deleterious for the health of Jason. As opined by Dharman, Boban and Chandrasekhar (2017), this can be ca
