Introduction:
Understanding human development over the lifespan and the psychosocial concepts and principles that underpin human behaviour is critical to effective nursing care. This knowledge facilitates understanding of how people from all walks of life may engage and react to health and illness.
Aims:
To enable you to:
1. attain a beginning level understanding of psychosocial development in a specific period of the lifespan.
2. learn to work collaboratively with peers and to acquire the basic presentation and communication skills vital to professional practice.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. You will work in groups of three students to research and deliver a 15-minute (maximum) presentation related to the impact of one experience on psychosocial development in a specific period of the lifespan and into the future.
2. During your lectorial, you and your group members will be assigned a topic from the Topic List (table 2) included in the Oral Presentation folder. Your designated topic will impact the timing (week) of your presentation delivery. This allocation will be given three (3) weeks prior to your presentation week.
3. As part of your presentation, you MUST:
· Present a presentation that directly relates to the topic you have been assigned (if unsure please consult your tutor)
· Apply and discuss minimum of 2-3 theorist from either the developmental, social, educational, or research fields addressing the topic you are presenting.
· Describe how the topic (experience) impacts psychosocial development during that particular period of the lifespan AND into the future.
4. Group selection will be coordinated in the Lectorial. All group members MUST be enrolled in the same lectorial (same enrolled day and same enrolled time).
5. You and your group members should contribute equally to the research AND delivery of the presentation (Approx XXXXXXXXXXmins each).
6. There are individual and group awarded marks for the presentation. Failure to work as a group can result in a fail mark for all group members. It is the groups responsibility to inform the tutor if the group is experiencing any SIGNIFICANT ISSUES related to group collaboration at least one week prior to your presentation.
7. As this is a group presentation, student MUST work collaboratively with their group and show evidence via the contract (Table 6: Group Activity Contract) of group contribution. Failure to work as a group will be considered a failure to fulfil the requirements of the presentation and result in a non-submission of the assessment. (see Table 7)
8. In addition, each group members researched material, needs to be provided for the whole group to review and discuss in a timely manner (every few days). This helps to avoid group members being unfairly penalised in the event, one of the group members becomes ill or withdraws from the course or is unable to present their material at the due time.
9. In addition, individual marks will be awarded to each member of the group for their own contribution to the presentations. These will contribute 40% to your final marks for this assessment.
10. Presentations will occur in your enrolled lectorial between weeks 5 – 10. The timing of presentations will be finalised with your tutor.
11. You will be given an opportunity to prepare for your oral presentation in your enrolled lectorials and facilitation online meetings.
12. Dress: You will need to present for the presentations in professional dress. (Griffith College uniform is not required).
PRESENTATION DETAILS:
1. Your presentation MUST include the use of PowerPoint slides. A suggested structure for your PowerPoint presentation can be found in the assessment folder called Suggested Structure for PowerPoint Presentation (Table 5).
2. Your presentation MUST include a title slide (which includes your groups names) at the start of the presentation in the order of the presenters AND a reference list on the final PowerPoint slide (see Suggested Structure for PowerPoint Presentation and Marking Criteria) (Tables 2 & 5).
3. The reference list MUST include a MINIMUM of five (5) scholarly sources that were used in researching your topic. Of your five (5) scholarly sources, a MINIMUM of two (2) scholarly sources MUST be journal articles. APA 7th referencing style must be used.
4. You must link a minimum of 2 to 3 developmental, social, educational, or research theorists to the topic you are presenting. These can be past or cu
ent researchers or theorists.
5. You MUST submit a hard-copy of two slides per page of your PowerPoint Presentation via email to the course tutor the day before your presentation. In addition you will need to submit a completed copy via email of the Group Contract (Table 4), to your tutor the day before your presentation.
6. You must submit (Table 3) Reflective Report and Peer Review to Turnitin by the Friday of the week you are presentation. Marks will be deducted if this is submitted late or you have to be reminded.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. Ensure you use scholarly literature to support key points in the presentation, such as research articles, relevant Government reports and textbooks. Try to use literature published within the last 5-10 years.
2. Images used in your presentation must be referenced on the slide on which they are shown. Images are not scholarly literature and should be used in addition to your five (5) scholarly sources.
3. Apart from images and direct quotes, you should NOT use in-text citations in your PowerPoint slides. All literature and information sources used to create the presentation must be referenced on the final slide.

Marking Criteria:
1. The presentation will be marked against established criteria which is published in the Assessment folder on in the Assessment Book on the Griffith College portal
2. Each Group Must complete and submitted prior to their presentation:
a. PowerPoint via email to the course convenor before presentation.
Submission:
1. In person (lectorial Zoom) according to the Oral presentation timetable
2. These presentations will take place during weeks 5 to 10 in lectorials as per your tutor’s allocated timetable.
