For twenty-five years and six editions, we have attempted to provide an integrative perspective to the organization and management of health services,
presenting the major management theories, concepts,
and practices of the day. We have also provided practical
illustrations and guidelines to assist managers and pro-
spective managers in the provision of health services in a
variety of settings.
As we go to press, we have entered the era of health
