Task Summary
For this assessment, you are required to write a report (1800 words) which discusses and critically
analyses a patient-facing digital technology platform with reference to evidence-based nursing
practice.

Context
You are expected to critically analyse these potential issues in the use of patient-facing digital
technology and examine them in light of evidence-based practice.
You will gain skills in producing an informative and engaging report, improve your ability to effectively
and accurately communicate information, increase your knowledge and understanding of patient
facing technology and improve your academic skills.

This assessment will advance your skills in evidence analysis, critical review and report writing skills
which may be transferable to report writing and delivery in the professional context. Designing and
delivering reports also develops competency in advocacy for health problems.
Task Instructions
To complete this assessment task, you will select a patient-facing digital technology platform and
consider the following questions:
How technology enabled care, in the form of patient-facing technology can:
o Improve self-management through education, remote monitoring and treatment
adherence.
o Tackle areas of high need that are unmet by traditional approaches.
o Shift the balance of power and transform the relationship between the patient and
carer.
Additionally, how such technology:
o Has been technology driven, often without the involvement of the people it is aimed
at?
o Has inherent risk in regard to patient safety and information security?
o Raises issues in regard to equity in access.
The report requires research using credible sources (textbooks, peer reviewed scientific journal
articles, and .edu, .gov and .org webpages).
