Groups must choose one topic from a list of five topics, see below. The assessment is made up of two
components: following weekly group discussions, an individual essay must be submitted with evidence of
learning from group meetings detailed in an Appendix (dates of group meetings attended; 100-word
summary of contribution in the meeting).

Individual: Essay of 1200words +/- 10% about a single topic chosen by the group from the list below. The
submission must include a reference list of at least five clearly written sources using CU Harvard method.
The individual essay must be accompanied by an appendix with evidence of learning in a group environment
– details (dates/group members in attendance) of attending at least 8 group meetings must be provided as
evidence with 100-word summary for each group meeting attended. See Task and Mark information below.

Module Learning Outcomes Assessed:
1. Understand areas of UK law relating to computer use.
2. Assess digital investigation scenarios to consider and determine whether people are acting
within the law.
3. Develop a reflective portfolio of perspectives on issues relating to technology, culture and
society with emphasis on professionalism in this context.
4. Demonstrate an effective approach to discourse and contribution within a group learning
environment.
The topic of the essay must be the same as the topic selected by the group you are a member of, the
topic must be selected from the list below:
i. Digital identity: consider the ethical and legal issues arising from the
affordance of anonymous Internet identity/identities across the web;
ii. Autonomous future: consider the ethical issues from a future world of work
with increasing autonomisation of processes, and robotics replacing humans in
the workplace or sharing jobs with humans, co-working robots;
iii. Privacy and data protection in the age of artificial intelligence – you should
consider ethical, social and legal issues in the light of new laws (e.g. GDPR) and
how they update rights and freedoms;
iv. Computer crimes – you could consider the ethical, social and legal issues
associated with electronic voting, research companies beyond Cam
idge
Analytica and their role in helping campaigns, could any facet of what they did
e considered a crime? If yes, which UK law(s) were
oken?
v. Sustainability and Technology: How can sustainability drive ethical
development of technology? For example, groups might want to consider the
problem of plastic polluting the planet’s oceans, or energy requirements in
technology use.
Your essay should show evidence of learning from reading
esearch concerning the main issues about
the chosen topic. You should include what you learnt from group member discussions, for example
different opinions on solutions. You should offer hypothetical solution(s) to problems discovered and
explain, from learning in group discussions and from your research, why the proposed solution could be
ealised.
Task and Mark distribution:
1. 60% of the mark is made up as follows:
a. 40% for 1200-word essay with a reference list (see points 2-5 below)
. 20% for and Appendix detailing evidence of attending group meetings, with dates, and
a 100-word summary of contribution to the group discussion for each attended
meeting
2. Your Appendix must summarise your contribution to group research and must include what
you learnt from other members of your group about the selected technology ethics topic. This
might be the same or different view from your own founded on evidence from research
3. Essay must be clearly written, i.e. you should run spell and grammar check through your
written work before submission. Clarity is important to convey your ideas. This will be good
practice for your final year project report.

4. At least five references must be included to show evidence of research. At least two of these
five references must be from peer-reviewed sources (a journal or conference paper; a book
chapter; a book). If you include only websites as references this will show failure to learn and
understand from a lot of scientific projects and studies of issues in technology ethics

Moodle Web.
8. Collusion between students for the individual abstract (where sections of your work are similar to
the work submitted by other students in this or previous module cohorts) is taken extremely
seriously and will be reported to the academic conduct panel. This applies to both courseworks
and exam answers.
9. A marked difference between your writing style, knowledge and skill level demonstrated in class
discussion, any test conditions and that demonstrated in a coursework assignment may result in
you having to undertake a Viva Voce in order to prove the coursework assignment is entirely your
own work.
10. If you make use of the services of a proof reader in your work you must keep your original version
and make it available as a demonstration of your written efforts.

1. My contribution and learning outcome
While completing this given module of my assignment, my group members and me collectively work on the identification of uses from artificial intelligence and used methods to protect the databases of such systems. The importance of individual freedom and rights related to personal information are identified by me my group members. The important concerns like laws of data protection in Europe and mainly pointed by me. In our group, my contribution is to mainly study and find the key points of Charter, ECHR and GDPR laws required to maintain privacy and protection of personal data base. The complete presentation of work towards the implications of Charter, ECHR and GDPR rules is explored by me. The deep investigation related to Charter, ECHR and GDPR rules is ca
ied out by me. Working with group members is quite helpful for me. I faced some issues related to timing with my group members but these are resolved on easy bases. The quality of work and productivity are mainly improved by working in group.
All the selected references are deeply studied by me and my group members and importance of data privacy and its protection for any individual person on bases of Europe. The legal proceedings followed in European countries especially GDPR is mainly learned as the outcome of this assignment. The role played by artificial intelligence to maintain the information flow in automated data filling is learned. The ethical implications, legal implications, and social implications of data privacy and protection on personal database are mainly learned here. The artificial intelligence is having huge scope in developed countries of Europe but issues related to data privacy and rights with freedom of individual users are always there. The personal data base always requires protection and importance of data security in era of artificial intelligence is most important issue which needs to be highlighted. The spectrum of what information can be shared and what is not shared defines the interaction and privacy of social systems. For protection of personal data and maintaining privacy, the Charter, ECHR and GDPR are mainly used laws in Europe. The protection of personal data is mainly governed by implementing GDPR law [Helbing et al, 2019]. The cu
ent era of computer systems is mostly based on artificial intelligence but success of any system based on artificial intelligence is dependent to the stored data and information on it. So, the importance of data protection and maintaining its privacy for authorized users is most important and critical task. While making use of AI systems, the transparency of data processing are most important. The new regulations of GDPR rules defines the aspects of data privacy but the complications in maintaining transparency of data processing have ethical issues of its uses and user authentication. The legal framework of Europe is based on the implementations of society. The data protection is required in every field of society and AI. Consider the example of Facebook on which tagging persons without their approval is mostly done. This tagging is photos and events can damage the personal and social life of individual [Lafever et al, 2017]. So, maintaining data privacy and security is most important issue of modern society using artificial intelligence in most of their social life activities.
