Introduction  
Occupational therapists have their own perspectives on the concept of occupation. 
First and foremost, it must be noted that occupational therapists consider their profession as 
client-centred and client-oriented, and that is the reason why they tend to treat their 
occupation as a way to promote health and well-being of the clients (World Federation of 
Occupational Therapists, 2012). It is noteworthy that in occupational therapy, “occupations 
refer to the everyday activities that people do as individuals, in families and with 
communities to occupy time and bring meaning and purpose to life. Occupations include 
things people need to, want to and are expected to do” (World Federation of Occupational 
Therapists, 2012). The primary objective of occupational therapists is to work with clients for 
enhancing their ability to remain engaged in their respective professions by modifying the 
occupation or the environment of the occupation in such a way that it becomes conducive to 
the occupational growth and development of the concerned client (World Federation of 
Occupational Therapists, 2012).
