The individuals or groups in jail, prison or community corrections are provided with different types and nature of treatment options. The main purpose of treatment options is to prepare offenders for taking good care of their health and developing life and working skills. The treatment options proves highly helpful for offenders kept in jail and prison for relatively short period of time while offenders for longer period are trained and educated for addressing their health care needs and improving life skills. Apart from it, treatment options also aimed at preparing offenders to return to their communities and reducing recidivism through transforming and becoming good nature people. 
Treatment options are based on imparting necessary skills for reducing substance abuse through providing necessary guidance and direction. It also includes offering mental health treatment and some educational classes such as literacy classes, parenting classes, wellness education, and library services (Pomerantz, 2003).
For example, Jail based Reentry specialist program is designed for corrections & reentry with the overall goal of reducing recidivism and improving individuals’ movement into the community. This treatment option is conducted in two phases. In the first phase, in-jail programming service is provided to the individuals and groups for preparing them for release and transiting into community in improved manner. In phase II, individuals are provided with supportive services for the period of 12 months (Farabee et. al, 1999). 
Secondly, Enhanced thinking skills is another treatment program started for imparting cognitive-behavioural skills among individuals locked in prison and jail. It has been proved effective in England as results showed that participants have reported significant reduction in reconviction through this program.
