Introduction
The Clinical Reasoning Cycle can help in processing the patient’s condition and provide an action plan according to the benefit of their health. Being new in the sector of nursing, the clinical reasoning cycle will help in identifying the patient’s problem and act accordingly (Vina et al., 2019). It will help me in getting cues about the condition, evaluate them and help me in providing the evidence-based practice to apply a proper action plan to remove the problem.
In the clinical reasoning cycle, it is mandatory to monitor the patients so that the healthy practices are maintained in their schedule. I am obliged to get a chance to do this assignment being a new nurse, as it will clear my ideas on the theories of the Levett-Jones clinical reasoning cycle and the Roper-Logan-Tiereney model of nursing to evaluate the outcomes of it.
Proper reasoning about the patient’s condition will decrease the conflict of the treatment process and help me to flourish in the practical application of my knowledge in a clinical setting. I will address the situation of Danielle Demetriou, who is a 44-years-old schoolteacher and wife of Peter. She suffers from overweight with a BMI of 40 but is always active in driving her kids to school and other extra-cu
icular activities.
She has a family history of
east cancer of her mother and dementia of her father. Being a mother and a teacher, she must be guided to lose her weight, which may otherwise create complex health issues in the future. The case study is examined through the clinical reasoning cycle below.
First Four Steps of Clinical Reasoning Cycle
In the case study, the case of Mrs Danielle is provided who is overweight with a BMI of 40. As supported by Chu et al. (2018), the overweight of a person can lead to obesity and several other health issues. It can be managed by the Levett Jones Clinical Reasoning Cycle, which helps the new nurse in identifying the reasons, which may lead to such situation of a person. The first four primary steps of the cycle can be followed to properly evaluate the condition and analyse the situation, being a new nurse (Ho et al., 2021).
The first four steps, which will be discussed in depth by me in the nursing practice, are to understanding the situation of the patient, gathering cues, information processing and identifying the issues.
Situation of the Patient-
When Danielle was inte
ogated about her situation, she said that she is a teacher working part-time for three days a week in a primary school. She actively does her ‘mum taxi’ service as well as drops and picks her kids from school and other extracu
icular activities.
As mentioned by Goranova-Spasova, Milcheva and Hasanaj (2020), the family...
