Ethics
Ethics can be defined as the art and science of establishing what is good and bad and right and
wrong of morale behavior. Ethics is important because it makes the business to do the right
things. Good corporate ethics result in attraction of better talent, new customers, retention of
employees and customers. Following of ethics have a positive effect on the reputation of
corporate.
Ethics is basically concerned about a person should behave. Ethical values are basically the
eliefs regarding what is morally right and proper in comparison to what is simply co

effective. In case of companies or firm operating in the society, they have the high responsibility
of maintaining ethical standards in their operations and code of conduct. The various
stakeholders of the company are society, environment, government, employees, suppliers,
shareholder, investors, banks, customers, financial institutions etc. Therefore, the actions of
companies shall be guided by highest ethical standards.
Case 2: Atlantic Cement Company
The decision is this case is not at all acceptable. The decision ignored the environmental interest
of the residents living near the plant. The decision also strongly pressured the property owners by
providing them the option to either rent the property to the company at the price fixed by the
court or to bear the results without any compensation in return. Finally the decision which was
taken resulted in giving a license to the company to pollute with small or no incentive to improve
or upgrade its pollution control technology. The company is free to pollute the air and provide
harm to the health of its neighbors as long as it is ready to pay a fee fixed by the government and
as long as it is using the best technology available when the plant was built. The decision is not
at all in convergence with the health of residents of society and environmental protection. For a
city to be happy and lively the physical welfare of the residents of the society and safe natural
environment shall be on the top priority and any monetary benefits shall not come in its way.
Case 4: Quincy Troupe
In the given case, Quincy Troupe committed an act of academic dishonesty i.e. he lied about his
academic credentials and he shall be held liable for that. He committed the act of lying on the
esume. As a skilled professional, the probability for not requiring the degree for positions he
held is high. Highly skilled professionals and respected artists are given faculty appointments
easily without holding the general expected academic degree.
UCSD shall ask Troupe to resign from the job. He shall be suspended whether with or without
pay from the classroom until it is determined by the administrator that he is qualified enough to
teach the present cu
