  2. When an organization sets out to perform in a given area, it firstly sets out its selected objectives. These objectives should be tailored and in line with our strategies as they are what will determine the indicators used in the monitoring and evaluation of the organisation. These have to be in line with the operational strategies of the organisation and the focus of these objectives should be on our strategies (Adair et al, 2006)
  3. In our organisation, we set SMART objectives (ECU, XXXXXXXXXXWith our objectives we expect them to be specific – where they are unambiguous, and clear to the employees; measurable – know the limits to our goals and be able to determine how close to completion we are; achievable – maximising the necessary resources and ensuring that all parties are able to agree on how we will consider a goal achieved; realistic – if the goal can be met with the resources, information and time we have available and timely – if we can achieve our goals in the time period (CDC, XXXXXXXXXXOur organisation sets targets which are in keeping with the specific strategies outlined in our initial proposal.
  4. With these in mind it is possible to select indicators that best exemplify and support our strategies on the ground; and set targets for different program areas. In this case we need to have set up an extensive data management system, where we can reliably obtain correct information on the indicators (Ekouevi, Karcher & Coffie, 2011).
  5. In the organisation that I work for, there are two main facets that are taken into consideration in monitoring. One, how the employees have impacted the organisational strategies, as assessed by annual performance assessments of each employee. the other is the targets set at the beginning of the project: these indicators are delineated by time: some are annual, some over the life of the project.
  6. Criteria we use in assessing our performance (Adair et al,2006) include the fact that targets are strategic and relating directly to the change that we would like to see; these have to be important enough to warrant us working on, and attempting to measure them, there should also be impact from our data collection and the improvements to any services that we put in place; another criterion is that our measures are relevant and of meaning to stakeholders, those who develop policy, managers, health care providers and the public . Other criteria that we look at include the utilization, cost and efficiency (Nerenz & Neil, 2001): we monitor how well the facilities are used for the services that we support¸ expenditure of the various activities that we are supporting and how well we are able to handle the program.
  7. Paradoxically, performance measurement may also result in excess focus on improving the indicator itself, instead f the methods to improve it, there can be a shift in attention from long term issues to the short term issues (Adair et al, 2006); in seeking to achieve our objectives we can look for simple solutions to highly multifaceted problems; if the targets that have been set are too unrealistic, the workforce can become demoralized leading to further drops in performance. These are true in my organization. Adair et al(2006) note that good results tend to be more well disseminated as compared to poorer results.

According to Evans (2013) SMART objectives are the best objectives; however, adopting
different strategic analysis tool before formulation of objectives help in better planning and
eduction in strategic gap. In accordance with Shahin & Mahbod (2007) specificity of goal
can be determined by answering 5 W’s that include who, what, when, where, and why.
Objectives can be measured by adopting different strategic actions such as quantity, quality,
cycle time and efficiency (Shahin & Mahbod 2007). Whether the goal is achievable or not
can be monitored by understanding the availability of control and external environment. To
ensure better relevance with the objectives, different objectives can be segregated and
allocated to each department; finally, goals should be made time bound.
I agree with the strategy adopted in the given essay for evaluating the influence of employee
on strategic achievement and comparing the past and present target accomplishment. It is
crucial to set co
ect measurement indicators to gauge the actual improvement in
organizational performance. The role of strategic process is also important as objectives,
goals and performance indicators will vary with three different types of strategies...
