 Long term care refers to wide range of services such as home based assistance like 
bathing, eating, moving, etc., community based assistance like adult care and facility based 
assistance like care and nursing homes to disable, old, mentally and chronically ill and 
impoverished people in the community. Medicaid and Medicare are insurance programs 
offered by government to meet the health care needs of needy families. They aim to reduce 
the burden on people to save or invest in insurance. They ensure that enough resources are 
available to provide for long term care needs of community.  
 Medicare is operated by federal government to assist old people and people with
