Background (200-250 words)
Australia the main determinant is depression. It has been found that the suicide rate in Australia is increasing with time and most of the reason behind those suicide cases is depression. Mainly Australians between the ages of 16 to 25 years of age are attempting suicide (Bauerle et al., 2020). Depression is striking them so hard that they are unable to find any way out so they decide to attempt suicide. In Australia, suicide is considered the third most reason for premature deaths.
At a certain stage of life, every 1 in 8 citizens of Australia is considering attempting suicide. Depression and anxiety can kill a person from the inside. This negatively affects the families, friends and even the overall population of the country. It is important to ensure that those who are facing mental issues should not be ashamed of it because it is very normal but they need to share their problems so that they can come out of that bad situation (Mandal et al., 2020).
Health intervention (200-250 words)
The reason behind attempting suicide for most Australians is found to be depression. To improve these particular scenarios health interventions are focusing on a number of treatments that the population can receive easily from different government and non-government organisations (Cambon, Te
al & Alla, 2019). A number of conceptual frameworks are there, which can be used to improve the situation. Initiatives like promoting more about mental health issues among the kids will help them to normalise feeling depressed and they will even know about how to come out of that situation.
This will positively affect the upcoming generation and it can be expected that through this initiative the suicide rate will also decrease (Malik et al., 2021). Apart from this, the people who are facing mental issues right now must be ensured that there is nothing to be ashamed of having a mental issue and they can get out of depression if they choose to visit a mental doctor and share everything that the doctor wants to know. This particular health intervention lies in the primary as well the secondary level of health intervention.
In the primary level of intervention precautions are promoted and in the secondary level of intervention improvement if the present situation is promoted. From the three strategies of the Ottawa Charter that are Enable, Mediate and Advocate, Enable is the most relevant one that is suitable for this health intervention. The Enable strategy of Ottawa Charter states that every health issue should be given equal preference (Harper Shehadeh et al., 2020). It provides the right to the citizens to receive all the services in order to achieve full health potentials.
