Major Assignment
Following the lockdown or stay at home order that follows the Covid-19 global pandemic, the reopening of economies both in Canada and the United States has generated more interest among Canadians and the Americans more than any other issues recently. The interests have polarized Canadians and the American into seemingly two diametrically opposed camps, namely, those in support of preservation of lives and those who are in support of the preservation of livelihood. Write an argumentative essay, putting into use your critical thinking skills and power of analysis, the debate between extending the stay at home order to preserve human lives or immediate reopening of the economy to preserve businesses and livelihood in Canada and the United States. The topic must be thoroughly researched and this must show in your essay. You are to discuss the pros and cons of both sides of the debate before you state, in clear terms, your own point of view. The essay should be between 5-7 pages or 2,500-3,000 words (maximum) excluding the references. All sources must be properly acknowledged in the references. Wikipedia is not acceptable as academic reference. However, newspapers articles, radio and television stations interviews and official government releases are acceptable. The assignment should clearly indicate the: Title of the Assignment, Course Title & Numbers, Instructor’s Name and Student’s Names and I.D. Number at the top of the first page of the assignment. The font should Time New Roman 12 with 1.5 line spacing. References should be APA format.

· Content
This includes the overview and/or introduction of thematic issue, and the thorough critical analysis of contents presented. Five sides to the question must be treated. The two sides of the proponents of the issue, the two sides of the antagonists of the issue and the personal opinion of the student. All claims must be supported by factual information and critical analysis of that factual information. In essence, arguments without explanation and regurgitation of factual information without critical analysis will receive low marks because the hallmark of this class is critical analysis in form of thinking outside the box. Each of the paragraph must show a clear topic/theme of discussion and there must be clear transitions between paragraphs and ideas.
· Organization
This includes the overall presentation of the content and the references in organized manner. Introduction and conclusions must be properly written. A thesis statement should be in the opening paragraph(s) that outlines the main argument of the paper. You should also indicate to the reader in a short paragraph how the paper will proceed and the order that information will be provided – in other words – a set of directions to your argument. There must be clear transitions between paragraphs and ideas. Failure to do this attracts penalty just it does under content. The conclusion must also summarize all the arguments presented in the paper.
· References
This includes the use of relevant and appropriate references. It also includes strict adherence to the rules guiding the referencing format used (APA format in this case). All sources, including those obtained from the Internet, must be fully cited. For Internet sources, give the full address and the date you referenced the site.
