Imagine you are an educational aide in a third-grade elementary school classroom. The teacher is leading a math lesson on fractions in preparation for a major exam. The teacher assigns you to assist a small group of students who are struggling with the lesson, and advises you that certain students within this group learn best by utilizing various learning modalities (e.g. visual, auditory, tactical, kinesthetic).

It is six weeks into the school year, and a student in your class is chronically truant. You also know that this student is currently performing below grade level, and has difficulty staying on task while in the classroom. Your lead teacher asks that you provide additional one-on-one support to this student during class to make sure he stays engaged.
