Economic issues in the health care industry:
There are many issue that are affecting the healthcare industry overall in the current scenario. They include They include socio-economic factors that strongly interact to influence the industry. Economic factors affecting health care industry mainly refer to financial constraints in the industry that directly or indirectly influence hospital revenues. Few economic issues include, the rising cost of medical care, accessibility of medical insurance facilities by majority of the population and issues related to demand and supply which impact the sustainable performance of healthcare units. Innovation practices like Evidence based practices also had an impact in the healthcare industry as it raised the financial implication s for both the hospitals and the patients as a whole.
The Economic trends of the health care payment system:
The trends of the current healthcare payment system are making a shift in a way by gradually shifting the incentives form volume to value which means that in this system comprising of three entities namely the patient, provider and the payer, the payers reimburse to the service providers and then it comes to the patients. Another trend is the acquisition and mergers of the hospitals which in a way reduces the competition in the market for getting the patient share. Due to rise in the cost of healthcare, the patients are also becoming more and more cautious in the fact that they are becoming more cost and quality sensitive.
