Reflective Essay
I have gained a deeper understanding of metacognition, the writing process, research, audience awareness, and critical thinking throughout this course on reading, writing, and research. The concepts and strategies I have learned have been instrumental in my growth as a writer and researcher, and I am confident they are going to guide me well in my future endeavors in academics and throughout my life.
Metacognition is one of the most important things I've learned in this class. Metacognition, as previously defined, is the capacity to reflect upon one's own cognitive activities and academic progress. One must be able to organize, track, and assess their progress in learning (Morphew et al., 2020). Understanding my thought process has helped me realize where I can make improvements and how this knowledge can propel me forward toward my goals. I can improve my learning methods by reflecting on my own experiences and identifying patterns that help me learn most effectively.
I've also learned the importance of research. Gathering evidence from multiple credible sources to support allegations and hypotheses is known as research (Brew & Saunders, 2020). I now understand how to conduct various kinds of research and how to determine whether or not a given source can be trusted. I can now write superior research papers and reports, which will serve me well in both my academic and professional endeavors in the future.
