Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) is one of the most common infection, which could affect recently operated patients and this change proposal would emphasize upon certain interventions and alternatives to avoid this infection. Further, efforts would be made to present a comprehensive view of the required resources along with the anticipated outcomes accompanied with the implementation of proposed interventions.

    Proposed Intervention: CAUTI prevention bundles
CAUTI prevention bundles could be used in all patient care areas.
Use of CAUTI bundles could help healthcare professionals concerning the use of indwelling catheters.
CAUTI bundle tool kit is a collection of resources to identify, assess and treat CAUTI.
CAUTI could be very difficult to detect and this is majorly because symptoms of CAUTI might resemble with original symptoms of the patient. Therefore, avoiding CAUTI would be a better strategy and use of CAUTI bundles, which is a group of individual evidence-based practice interventions, could help the nurses or other healthcare providers involved with handling of catheters to understand proper handling and source of infections (Sampathkumar et al., 2016).

Proposed Intervention: Intermittent Catheterization
Intermittent catheterization is safer than indwelling catheter.
Intermittent catheter is not left intact and is removed after bladder drainage.
Leads to significant reduction in UTIs compared to use of indwelling catheter.
Replacing indwelling catheter with intermittent catheters could also be considered another effective intervention to avoid CAUTI. Likewise, use of intermittent catheter accompanies additional benefits such as freedom from catheter bags and facilitates patient’s autonomy.
