Brief summary of case
The alleged Rita Crundwell took charge as Comptroller of a small city, Dixon. At that time, Dixon had an annual budget of fewer than 9 million dollars in 1983. After taking the charge as comptroller, there were various financial shortfalls during the time of Rita Crundwell but Crundwell said that these shortfalls were caused due to state often owned the city fund.
Rita opened an account at the fifth third bank of Ohio. But later she transfe
ed from this account to other various city bank accounts as investigators alleged. FBI accused Rita to use this money for personal and private business expenses. These include personal credit card payment, horse farming operations, vehicles and real estate (Smith, 2012).
Causes of this fraud
The personal appearance and past history of Rita were the main causes that facilitated fraud happening. Her own lifestyle was not lavish and she lived a moderately simple life. Rita was having a trust factor in her personality because she was regarded as the most trusted person in the Dixon city....
