Introduction
Australian living in remote and rural areas has a shorter life expectancy and higher lack of diseases. This is due to poor access to health services. Poorer health outcomes among men living in rural and remote areas of Australia may be due to several critical factors such as lifestyle differences lack of quality education and poor employment opportunities (Neville et al. 2020, p. 55). In this regard, nursing considerations are important that can help the men of rural areas to get access to quality healthcare services. Thus, the study highlights the three Registered Nurse Standards such as Standard 2, 3 and 5 to explain to nurse considerations to enhance rural healthcare outcomes efficiently and effectively.
Discussion
As discussed before, men living in rural and remote areas of Australia have limited access to quality healthcare services. In this regard, it is the responsibility of the Registered Nurses (RNs) to generate effective and quality care to the rural population. In this regard, Registered Nurse Standards must be followed by the RNs so that the health inequalities existing in the rural and remote areas of Australia can be reduced (Muirhead & Birks, 2020). Standard 2 highlights the need for engaging in therapeutic and professional relationships. RN practices are dependent on purposeful involvement in efficient therapeutic and professional relationships. This consists of collegial generosity concerning mutual trust and respect in professional relationships. As per this standard, the RNs must develop, sustain and conclude a relationship in a significant manner that differentiates the personal and professional relationships efficiently. It is evident that rural men have less access to quality healthcare services. Hence, they are also unaware of the medical techniques and procedures that are ca
ied out in primary healthcare. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the RNs to communicate effectively with the people by respecting the individual’s culture, dignity, values and beliefs (Devik et al. 2015, p. 28382). Moreover, RNs must acknowledge the fact that rural people have their own experience of their lives and hence, a professional approach must be maintained with communicating with the patients. This will help the RNs to generate support and guidance to people concerning health-related decisions. RNs advocates on behalf of patients in such a way that respects the individual's autonomy and legal capacity (Radermacher & Feldman, 2015, p. 1011). In order to obtain improved rural health outcomes, the RNs utilize delegation, coordination, supervision, consultation and refe
al concerning professional relationships. On the other hand, while generating care for the rural patients, the RNs foster a culture of learning and safety so that the patients are actively engaged with healthcare practitioners to share knowledge, thereby, facilitating person-centred care.
