Consumer Decision model 
Introduction 
 This is a model which breaks down the consumers’ decision process into different stages 
so to make that easy to understand the integral meaning. Though we always follow these steps 
without realizing them as some of the points are simple to do and some are complex which are 
generally happen when there is a high involvement product. Let us take an example of a 
Shampoo brand to understand the whole cycle.

The first step in consumer decision model is to realize the need and identify the problem 
being faced by the user currently i.e. need recognition; the consumer could arrive at this decision 
or conclusion on the basis of past experience or because of the influences of any brand. Here in 
this case, the problem recognition was done on the basis of advertisement of the product which 
made me realize the problem with my hair (dryness) and in their communication message the 
solution to this problem was said which made me realize the need to have or buy such product.
