The problems that have been concise in the case study identify the issues or the gap that are sustained in the general surgery unit. The case study reflected the takeover of the managerial position of Ba

is faced as she inherited a large unit which hard lowest employee satisfaction scores and the highest turnover rate among all the departments in the hospital. Moreover, the unit in which she was appointed had a very bad aspect of cultural confrontation, blaming, and favoritism. Many staffs in the unit were dissatisfied and were not motivated such that the employees were not functioning as a team for delivering services to the patient which was no doubt an important aspect in the healthcare service. The other major problem of the unit was that the patient satisfaction score was also declining steadily in recent years (HBR, 2009).
In addition, there are issues that were associated with the problem of overtime that was stopped by the management because of the aspect of cost-cutting measures. There were also issues with frequent leave and vacation by the nurses which were degrading the organizational productivity.
