The main goal of Accountable Care Organizations is to control or reduce the growth of healthcare expenses while improving and maintaining the quality of health care. Various opportunities exist for enhancing quality as well as reducing healthcare costs without necessarily rationing care. Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) have been a promising model in ensuring improvement of quality care as well as reducing costs through collaboration and coordination. The concept focuses on how care is delivered and organized across the world. This report has focused on Accountable Care Organization, situational analysis, strategy formulation, recommendation, implementation strategies, and finally a benchmark for success as well as contingency plans of attaining success.

Key issues
The key issues in ACOs are based on care coordination and how primary care physicians can be recruited as well as the role that the technology will play in enhancing quality health care. The other key issue is under quality improvement and measures to be taken, to enhance realistic quality metrics, and the role that ACOs will play in enhancing quality care. Additionally, efficiency is a major issue under ACOs as it evaluates on ways to improve performance. Finally, there is the issue of bending the cost concept, to enhance financial viability.
Situational Analysis
This part will focus on both the internal and the external environment analysis of Accountability Care Organisations.
SWOT Analysis
Strengths.
Accountability Care Organizations help in enhancing and coordinating care for patients with Medicare. Additionally, the organization regulates high costs ensuring that health services are affordable to all people (Geodert, 2011). It also guarantees universal access of health care to all persons. With the system, there is also strong patient management and enhanced incentives for efficiency. It is important as it strengthens primary care and fosters coordination among the providers. Finally, it gets government’s support.
Weaknesses.
With this system, there is lack of control over patients and the cost control incentives are usually dependent on the size of bonus. This is because the bonus for ACOs is to an extent derived from the savings it tends to generate. In addition, for Centres for Medicaid and Medicare services (CMS) to deal with ACOs, CMS will need to acquire personnel that are obviously expensive (Geodert, 2011).
