Jack is an older gentleman who has severely impaired vision and wears prescription glasses. He needs assistance with showering, shaving, shopping and meal preparation.
He also has an inner ear problem which causes him to be unsteady on his feet. It has been reported he has stumbled/fallen on several occasions and now uses a wheelie walker to maintain his mobility. Jack was a keen sportsman and his condition frustrates him greatly. You will be attending to Jack’s needs today.

Case study 2
Beryl is an 87 year old woman and a Type 2 diabetic which is controlled by diet and oral medication. The medication is to be taken with breakfast and dinner. She has a niece who visits on a weekly basis and takes her shopping for incidentals, e.g. birthday cards, stockings, etc.
She also suffers from high blood pressure which requires daily monitoring – a task she is unable to undertake by herself. She is one of your clients today.
Case study 3
Mario is an Italian. He is 77 years old and a roman catholic. He is a retired baker with arthritis in both hands. Since his wife passed away two years ago, he has become withdrawn and obese. His only son lives interstate and travels overseas extensively with his job. He has difficulty with personal care needs, e.g. showering and dressing himself. He suffers self-neglect. He is the first client you will attend to this morning.
